C.J. Byrd

Byrd is the state of South Carolina's top prospect because of his athleticism and his versatility. We think Huggins catches the ball better but Byrd can also be a terrific defensive back. Byrd makes things look easy. He is very athletic. This is a prospects with good size and speed but his fluid mobility is another attribute. Byrd needs to improve his hands like a lot of top high school receivers. He sometimes "double catches" balls. As a safety he has great range. Byrd breaks on the ball well in the passing game as a safety. He is also a good open field tackler. We think he may be a better safety at the next level.
