Apparently Trump even incited left-wingers

This is exactly why there shouldn’t have been a rush to impeachment until all the facts were known.
Read the affidavit. I think there will be more and more coming out about what actually happened that day. Not excusing anyone’s actions. Just saying there’s more to it.

They were doing some sort of do-it-yourself documentary. No joke. They came out talking about it and sharing their film after the Knights of Stupid got done cosplaying their revolution.
No idea whatsoever what they were thinking.

You think that guy was making a documentary? Read the affidavit and get back to me. He has numerous quotes throughout. He was inciting others just as he did all last summer. Read the comments on that Tweet. There is video of him last summer.
There were people in the Capitol that were clearly Trump supporters. A lot of people though have also commented how there were a lot of people there who didn’t look like Trump supporters from other rallies.
As I’ve said before, there were younger people there who had gas masks, helmets and other tools similar to this guy. I think we will learn a lot more about their involvement and the involvement of some police over the next few weeks.

the comments within it, I'm inclined to agree with you on everything except the impeachment part. Provided that the correct person was identified.
First time for everything, I guess. Me agreeing with you
It's possible that quozzel is also right. They could have arrived with good intentions but got caught up in the adrenaline of it all and lost their ever loving minds like the conservative folks did.
Pure adrenaline is a #### of a drug.
Like I said, if they egged anything on, lock 'em up. Stupidity is no less excusable than malice when our Nation's Capitol is involved.

C’mon bro...you know we’ve agreed at least twice lol.
Yes a lot of people got caught up doing stupid stuff and will pay tremendous prices. I also think there are some people who obviously had some things planned out way in advance. I’m genuinely interested to see what unfolds.

The obvious thought would be those so-called "Accelerationists".
They apparently come in White Supremacist and Non-White Supremacist varieties. The Boogaloo Boys are one bunch but at the end of the day they're all pretty much just anarchists who believe there's some sort of inevitable race war coming and then they get to play Call of Duty with the world, and they're so eager for that awesome tomorrow they're actively pouring fuel on the fire to get it the blaze started.
They seem to have been involved in the riots this summer...and I suspect they were involved again here. No reason for them to have sat this one out; this was a Happening bit of crazy brewing and I doubt they'd have missed it.

Okay, read it. Don't think it was the same guy.
Some kid and his girlfriend were also there with their GoPro's playing Rush the Bastille with the rioters doing an as-you-are-there stream, and seemingly never realized that they themselves were actually trespassing along with everybody else.
Anderson Cooper was gentle with him, but you could see what he was thinking, which was: uh, kids, this is not gonna go so well for guys later on when the Federales get to sorting all this craziness out.

Good! Arrests should be nonpartisan.

All for charging that guy if he was part of what happened.
I'm also fine with charging Trump with inciting the riots once he's out of office, and I agree with you that it should be investigated fully.
The impeachment was the right thing to do as a political action to remove Trump as President. But perhaps this article shows how it should have been done better:

Except it didn’t and won’t remove him as President. It was purely political and premature.

Purely political yes, as impeachment is supposed to be. It's not a criminal charge.
Did you read the article? It did a pretty good job.

Yes I did. It’s a good article. I just don’t think they could have removed him even with different charges in the article of impeachment.
You may not believe this but I’d be more for letting the investigations play out. If there was criminal behavior involved on his part, then that should be pursued legally. I just didn’t like the rushed impeachment just to say they did it.

And it explains Mitch McConnell's simultaneous support for impeachment while delaying the trial in the Senate.

I just can't imagine Trump, even before the Capital incident, winning the 2024 nomination...Are the dems really worried about that?

I agree. I wouldn’t have voted for him in a primary even before the Capitol. The legal fights were fine but it dragged on a month too long.
Also if he can’t beat a candidate like Biden who basically didn’t even campaign, I don’t think his prospects are very high. He capitalized on a movement against a very bad candidate in Hillary.

where does the idea that Biden "basically didn’t even campaign" come from?
he was in 20 states the last 3-4 weeks of the campaign.
is it because he didn't (try to) hold large rallies?
he certainly didn't 'campaign' in SC. but he certainly did in NC and GA
with the Prez being as unpopular as he was, Biden really didn't have to do much more than look like a safe alternative

He stayed in the basement until the numbers started looking scary. He did his speeches basically the last few weeks of the campaign. His campaign also started going door to door the last couple of weeks like the Republicans had been doing. I’m not criticizing. Just saying he didn’t do very much, and that beat Trump.

Maybe the right way to view/say it, kind of like you suggest, is Biden didn't get out as much as Trump. Plus if you watch FoxNews they kept telling us Biden was hidin'. Seemed true to me...

Yep, it was a smart strategy. The more people got to see Trump,

with all of his campaign stops, the more people decided to vote for Biden. Trump pretty much campaigned for Biden by showing more and more of his true self. Many people didn’t vote for Biden in this election, they voted against Trump. Nothing Biden said would convince those people to vote for him, but the more Trump talked more of those people decided to vote against him.
