I don't think anything that happens next year would justify an extension. It's whether he can carry momentum after JB leaves that will determine if he should be extended long term.

Dan Radakovich's expectations for the basketball program are

not that high. All Coach Brownell needs is a deep run in the NIT to get an extension. Given that we didn't even make the NIT last year and we have a lot of new players, is it reasonable to expect an NCAA Tournament bid so quickly? If we go on a run in the NIT, he'll have to step up with an extension. Anything less than a contract extension after next season would be considered a no-confidence vote from DR and would hinder Coach Brownell's ability to recruit.

He didn't recruit after his last NIT based extension. I have little confidence in Radikovich but don't see anything more than a one year rubber stamp extension offered short of a NCAA run next year. Obviously if he makes a deep run, because ADs apparently have zero long term memory, he'll become a target elsewhere and we'll make a panic extension.

For me he would need to make it to the sweet 16. For D Rad he is going to need a .500 ACC record and maybe a trip to the NIT. NIT is an improvement on last year and a .500 league record is pretty good according Coach.

The entire premise of the discussion is idiotic. It is just another sad veiled attempt to attack a coach/AD by you. Really pathetic we get great news for our program that JB is returning and you simply take the time to go after the HC/AD again.
It doesn't matter what Brownell does this year he should not get an extension.
You should refrain from calling others an idiot.

NCAA tournament bid and at least one win in the ACC tourney. The key is improvement in the non-conference record while getting ten or more ACC season wins.
The NIT would not cut it after CBB all but admitted at "Prowl & Growl" that he is expecting a considerably better team which mentally and physically finishes games.

One added thought: CBB needs at least a one year extension for recruiting purposes, but no significant pay raise or multiple year deal. Show us consistent improvement first.

Extension? Are you serious? Giving him an extension off one season's worth of work was the mistake DRad made in the first place. Give me 3 consecutive years of NCAA tournament play and we can talk extension.
