Watson might have torn ACL vs. Seahawks

by - Assoc. Editor -

The NFL is just not the same without Houston rookie quarterback Deshaun Watson breaking new rookie records each week.

Watson went down on a non-contact run-option play during last Thursday's practice and suffered a torn ACL and MCL in his right knee. The knee injury was on the other knee that he suffered a torn ACL in college. Since he suffered the injury in the middle of the season, his rehab (10-12 months) should be over before the start of the 2018 NFL season.

However, it is possible that he initially suffered the knee injury last Sunday against the Seattle Seahawks.

"I can’t be 100 percent sure,” A doctor told ESPN's Adam Schefter. “But I wouldn’t be surprised. Something happened as he grabbed his knee. And if you look at it in slow motion, one mechanism of injury is there."

The play in question that he might have initially hurt his knee is when Seattle defensive end Frank Clark rolled up on Watson's leg in the second quarter of action.

Regardless of when the knee injury initially happened, Watson is still out for the rest of the season, but with his work ethic, he should be fully rehabbed and ready to go to start a highly-anticipated sophomore season in the NFL.

In 2017, Watson completed 126 out of 204 passes for 1,699 yards with 19 passing touchdowns and eight interceptions for a passer rating of 103.0.
