Andre Ellington is headed to free agency after his four seasons with the Arizona Cardinals.
His role with the Cardinals has been full of ups and downs beginning with his stellar first two seasons with over 1,000 all-purpose yards each year but also had lingering injuries that reduced him to a smaller backup role with the emergence of starter David Johnson. Ellington will now test the free agent market at the age of 27. “I mean, honestly, I don’t know what to expect,” Ellington said via ESPN.com. “This is actually my first time in a position I’m in right now and I’ll put it all in God’s hands. I stayed prayed up every day and whatever happens, happens. I’ll deal with it. It’s [had its] ups and downs, a lot to learn from,” Ellington said about Arizona. “Me, I take all the coaching thrown my direction and try to become a better player. I felt like this year I did everything I could possibly do whenever I was called on. I made the best of my ability and we’ll see.” In 2016, he had only 34 rushes for 96 yards. For his carer, he has 398 rushes for 1,697 yards and nine rushing scores.
