in academic curriculums is optional for football and basketball players? Why are they withholding this?

standing to play sports is a violation of their constitutional right to earn as much money as possible. It's all laid out in State of Ohio vs NCAA.

Fans right now don't care if they are being educated.

Hard to say, but the direction it’s going, I’ll be one of the people that stops watching. There is nothing interesting about seeing which rich person or group of rich people can buy success.

College football is quickly becoming NFL Lite, with no gaurd-rails

So in that regard it is more like MLB where you can buy championships more times than not. I am also quickly becoming sick at what the sport has become. It is almost the total opposite of what it was intended to be, and the NCAA and fans are the only ones you can blame.

And now Belichick is considering coaching UNC. I guess pro college deserves a pro coach, but will he be able to handle coaching kids vs grown ### men?

Same here and I would expect many others to start tuning out. I suspect that this ties into the motive of the Power Players of the Sport (NCAA, TV networks, etc.) to keep the facade up that these guys are still required to be enrolled and making satisfactory progress towards a degree.

I suggested that a month or so ago. It's the logical conclusion...

https://www.tigernet.com/clemson-forum/message/this-is-an-excellent-post.--thats-the-end-game.--stop-the-charade-entirely.-35732475#35732475
"Let the football programs completely separate from the schools. If the schools (or towns) permit, they can lease the school's name as the location for the franchise (heck...maybe it would be the other way around...schools can pay the teams for sponsorship rights, to keep their name out there). If the schools want to offer an opportunity for the players to take classes there, that's up to them. On campus stadiums and practice facilities can likewise be leased to the teams on terms that both organizations determine mutually."
It eliminates an awkward charade of players being there to get an education, while also providing the players with an opportunity to get an education, if that is of any interest. But, on the flip side, professors would feel no pressure to pass a player who didn't earn it...it wouldn't matter for Saturday's game.
