We are 19-23 in close games since 2020

That's games 5 points or less or OT. That's actually much better then I thought. It always seemed to me that BB was not a good late game coach. I would say that his record shows he is about average. I like him and am glad we have him just to be clear.

Yea I need to go look through schedules and see. Of course I imagine the the big time programs will have better records in close games since they have better records overall.

Typically the teams with the most talent win these types of games. Shocker

Well Auburn has been a pretty dang good program lately and Pearl has about the same record.

Your 'any given night' in basketball, where a better team loses to a worse team, belies this though. On that 'any given night' the lesser team has showed out and made it a game. It then comes down to coaching chops to help finish out the tight ones, as that night the teams are more evenly matched - because basketball. Brad's consistent struggles here are in contrast to this, especially compared to his overall record.
We've had this discussion several years ago when you were adamant his record wasn't actually that bad but were too lazy to look it up. When we did, and showed it in black and white, instead of acknowledging it, you shifted your narrative.

Bruce Pearl is 19-22 in those close games. He had a few wins by 6 points but I made my cut off at 5 or OT so didn't count those. Very interesting to me that they have similar records in close games. I always thought that was a big weakness for BB but most not be. I guess the key is just avoiding close games lol.

BB is a better close game coach then Dan Hurley is. That's just wild isn't it?

Close games I said. I wish we beat everybody by 10+ lol. I just always thought that close games were Brownells weakness. Seems like he is actually pretty decent.

A losing record is not decent.
But nice try. LOL
You found one outlier who has a losing record in close games, but has won the last two national titles by kicking everyone’s butt on the way. Brad forgot to do that part.

Bruce Pearl and Dan Hurley both have losing records in close games the last 5 years. So not 1 outlier. I imagine most coaches are around .500 in those games. I assumed BB was way worse is why I looked it up. I was shockingly surprised. Idk why every response you have about basketball is always so negative.

The SEC is moons better than the sorry ACC plus Pearl took Auburn to the Final 4. Can’t play the numbers game here.

Just talking late game coaching. That's all. Nobody is saying anything about how they did overall.

That also includes the year where we had a bunch of injuries and went 17-16 overall. We went 4-8 that year in these "close games". Its no shocker that the better your team is, then the better you are in these types of games.

The real question is how many of those close games should have been close?
