Venables on loss of DEs Yeargin and Davis and if it hurts depth: Yeargin yes, "but Davis, it doesn't hurt because he never did anything."

I really hope to see Register ball out at the DE position this year.

meaning that if the DEs struggle, we could move big ole 42 outside and have Dex and Pinckney inside.

Most believe the Tigers have the strongest D-line in the nation. No concerns here.

Hmm. Maybe. Our starters are really good, and we have four really strong DT's - assuming Nyles Pinckney is as good as advertised - though we're going to miss Scott Pagano since Wilkins/Huggins/Nyles Pinckney are natural 3-techs and Dexter Lawrence is the only real true 1-tech/nose guy we've got at the moment. We could use another big DT and don't have one right now. I think Xavier Kelly looks like a stud, probably on the strong side. We need to find another pure edge guy like Ferrell; Register is...ok, but hasn't shown much so far.
The 2-deep looks like this: WDE-1 Clelin Ferrell (RS SO, 6'5", 265) WDE-2 Chris Register (RS SR, 6'3", 255) 3-tech 1 Christian Wilkins (JR, 6'4", 310) 3-tech 2 Albert Huggins (JR, 6'3", 305) 1-tech 1 Dexter Lawrence (SO, 6'5", 340) 1-tech 1 Nyles Pinckney (RS FR, 6'1", 305 SDE-1 Austin Bryant (JR, 6'4", 265) SDE-2 Xavier Kelly (RS FR, 6'4", 265)
We also have Jabril Robinson floating around. He's kind of a DE/DT tweener and a decent player who goes maybe 275 or so. We haven't seen DT Sterling Johnson much but he's looked at least serviceable in scrimmages and Spring Games.
We're bringing in three freshmen - Jordan Williams, Justin Foster, Logan Rudolph. Hearing Jordan Williams came in at 280, which could well push him inside. Justin Foster and Logan Rudolph are OLB/DE tweeners in that 230+ range who could both line up with their hand on the ground. Hopefully one of them, at least, can get the edge and give us something behind Ferrell.
