Gotta play the game.. if a recruit hears that you hate it

then it'll be used against you in the recruiting game. But there is no doubt this will be a huge distraction from day one....for the whole athletic department.

If it is truly FREE enterprise in a capitalistic economy
Jul 1, 2021, 1:17 PM

then NOBODY who calls themselves free thinking, pursuit of happiness, limited government advocates should have a problem with this. Why should a young man who is creative enough to start an any figure company in high school have to divest his interest in that company to accept a scholarship to play a sport in college? Why should a student-athlete have to refuse to work for his own money while enrolled as a scholarship athlete? Isn't that hindering a man or woman's free will to make his way in life? Isn't that the same intrusion as government mandates that infringe on individual freedoms that really serve no purpose to the collective good of society?
Of course it is and the hypocrisy is deafening on this issue...

There is no restitution for the previous wrong in this
Jul 1, 2021, 1:58 PM

Like all conflicts, it's for the benefit of future generations, UNLESS a promise/oath/agreement was made that was not honored...
In THIS case, it's for now going forward living up to free enterprise ideals...
Also, you really cannot say that 75% would not be in school because there are other financial opportunities available that would help them get into school. If there were no scholarships, DJ most probably would not be at Clemson, but he would most probably be in school somewhere that's closer to his home, as would be the case for the majority of students. And Why did you choose 75% as your number?

You don't have to like it you don't have to support it it's a done deal though and this is what reality is moving forward so you can work within the system and make it the best possible situation that you can and I think that the processes tools and mechanisms set up in the Paw Journey is in a unique situation to help these kids navigate this for the best possible outcome for both Clemson and their student athletes

don't have an answer to either. Do you REALLY subscribe to the 'dumb jock' myth?? Why have a lack of confidence in what Clemson is doing regarding admissions?? Why have a lack of confidence in Dabo and the staff to identify and recruit players who not only fit the athletic profile they desire but also the academic profile to be admitted?? Not EVERY admitted student (athletic or non-athletic) is scoring a 1300 SAT and carrying a 4.0 GPA. Whatever that average might be, there are scores in a range above and below it that make up that average, so, there's that...
But since you want to call out the starters, who do you think is ONLY at Clemson because of the scholarship?? DJ? KJ? EJ? Justyn? Skalski? Ladson? Ngata? Kobe? Parks? Putnam? Trevor? Travis? Deshaun? Watkins? Renfrow? Bockhorst? Simmons? Boulware? Terrell? Mullen? Ferrell? Bressee? Davis? Simpson? Spector? Turner? Booth? Big Dex? Christian? Gallman? Carman? Anthony? Boyd? Nuk? McLain? Jarrett? Murphy? Bryant? Humphries? Shipley? Mafah? Jake? McFadden? Which one(s)???
As for your feelings, nobody is asking for sorry or pity, they have come to realize how free enterprise works and are rightfully asking for full access to the system. This is America, amiright? Negotiations is a part of the American way, amiright? Arbitration and litigation through due process are a part of the American fabric, amiright? No one is asking for pay from the schools, they are demanding (and rightfully so) that no one infringe on their opportunity to earn their own, isn't that what every red-blooded American has a right to?? Life, Liberty and the Pursuit of Happiness is our inalienable right to be in total control of our being and doing what we will with it. It's hypocrisy to tell these young athletes that they have to stymie their creativity for the sake of an athletic scholarship. I didn't have to stymie my creativity to make my way for my academic scholarships, so why the double standard on athletes?

I say that even Dabo has had to adjust to the times that has changed a lot since becoming a college FB coach, and even more since becoming a HC at Clemson. But there is one adjustment that nobody connected to Clemson in any way can argue, or complain about. That is his personal drive to make Clemson FB the best that it's ever been in the history of Clemson FB. He hasn't only won some of the highest FB championships, he is also making his mark with putting Clemson FB players in the NFL with Clemson players being drafted in the 1st round of the NFL draft, and with players landing in every round of the NFL draft, and that wasn't something that occurred very often before Dabo became the HC of our Clemson Tigers!!!!!
I Love everything about Dabo Swinney for what he has done at Clemson, and you can't love Clemson without loving what Dabo has meant to Clemson, Period!!!!
