This is good video vs #2 Duke in 1998. #33 is Tom. Also Greg Buckner and what a game he had. His son Ace is redshirt freshman this coming season. Link:

Remember those years. Barnes brought in some good players - always hated how things ended with him and then we endured the Shyatt years, yikes.
Terrell is back in Clemson, which is awesome to see. When I was 7 years old, I wore his jersey to school everyday.

You give Barnes too much credit. He burned the bridge beyond down and while hate is the wrong word he can kick rocks forever as far as I am concerned

Hell, Barnes ruined Wideman. He came in with more than modest skills a good basketball IQ. a decent vertical with good lateral movement for a 6'10" guy too. He had low body fat and was fit and muscled enough to make the cover of a magazine featuring young natural body builders. There weren't a half dozen players in the league that could push him around on his first day as a true freshman. Then Barnes decided him and Jamison needed to bulk up for his bring the Big 10 brand of basketball to the ACC project and the nutritionist turned him into someone that looked like a couch potato, beer gut and all. Triple F Rick Barnes.

Barnes choked that one away. Loved his fight, but he could register beat the strong Duke or UNC teams.

His teams choked on offense and lost most of their games at the charity stripe.

But played their butts off on defense., maybe a little haphazardly aggressive too. Good days, some of them. Beating a top five Duke team is not easy. Barnes had us in there. I’ll give him that.

that top 5 duke team had just come off a 3 game tournament in 3 days, it was at home. We outplayed them that night, they were tired, but it was excellent coaching and motivation on Barnes' part.

You cannot tell me the atmosphere in the New Littlejohn is even 50% of what it used to be. Dickie V and Patrick were having to yell over the crowd in the pregame shot. Somebody ruined that building because it used to be a snake pit for opposing teams.

I know LJ is nostalgic, but I wish they had stuck with the original plan of complete demolition and rebuild.

At the time with who was making decisions, you would have gotten exactly what Georgia Tech got, which is a soulless arena that looks like half the lights are burnt out.
Outside of the benches being on the wrong side and it’s not as loud, I really don’t have an issue with Littlejohn. Last thing you want is a 15-20k seat arena with 10k in it and no character. Folks make way too much out of not having the newest building. It is fine for what we need it to do for a sport that isn’t going to be a big money maker or a championship contender anytime soon.
