Dont know why I didnt think of this one earlier. Both guys are Jesus followers, writing a song about the same thing, with opposite views of their place in it, both correct. They have been encouraging to me over the years, the first one reminding me when I fall or life around me falls, that I am headed home nevertheless, the second one reminds me that the way home is not created by me.

That's John 14 that you posted, not John 15. John 15 is about abiding in the True Vine. Which is actually another way that Jesus tells us that the church IS Israel because in Scripture (Isaiah 5:1-7/Jeremiah 2:21/Matthew 21:33-46) the vine & vineyard are synonymous with Israel. So when He tells you to abide in Him, The True Vine, He is actually saying more there than just the surface level reading gives.
