Correct! The game had become so slow it was almost unbearable to watch. All that fiddling around outside the batters box and on the mound would drive me to turn even Clemson games off. At least now there is a semi-constant flow of action. Now if they can stop the constant spitting and finger licking, maybe my wife will start watching. She hates the constant spitting and can't watch it. Can't say as I blame her!

I use to make the batter stay close to the box, as well as the pitcher cutting down on all prep. My games typically avg. about 2 1/2 -3 hrs. I kept it moving. Coached loved my strike zone
I moved to softball for that very reason. It pays about the same and ends quicker. In my day, it was hard to get college umpires that would be consistent.

but it is still slow w the clock. Should be played in under 3 hours. And in college the ball strike inconsistency is maddening. reviews are big time wasters as well but at least they sometimes do what they should and correct errors

I can’t stand replays. Awful. Baseball was just fine as it was for 100+ years without replays. I get it, it can overturn a bad call. But it’s not baseball. Sometimes you catch a break, sometimes you get screwed. It’s all part of what made it a great game. God forbid we ever have video ball and strike calls.

Agree. However, the upside to replays is some ability to help mitigate the possibility of corruption or paid umpires.

only to see the previous game at the top of the 8th inning. And knowing that it could go into extra innings. Same with basketball, football, etc., knowing full well that the network jammed in all the commercials they could so that the game could be extended to fit the commercials. College football and the NFL is pretty much 4 hours of commercials with a football game in between.
