The Final Update ****Prayer request, the last mile of a long marathon...

Mar 13, 2025, 10:21 AM

Final Update-My beloved Granny went home to her maker last week after a short stint in hospice care. I was fortunate to spend a day with her in the final days of her life. She was still just as sharp as a tack as always and I will hold that day together in my heart for as long as I live. She was just flat out an incredible woman and touched so many people in her nearly 100 years on Earth. Thanks again for all the prayers and thoughts for our family.

Update #2-First I want to say thank you for all the kind words and prayers for my Granny and our family, they truly do matter and mean a lot! Granny has had a set back and is not getting discharged as hoped. She has some infection and fluid around her lungs and she may need a chest tube to keep it drained. She was not happy about this news but decided against doing nothing about it and let it run it's course. I can't imagine how hard this fight is for her at her age. Thanks again and God bless!

Update*****
My grandmother is nearing discharge to rehab to try and rebuild her strength enough to be able to go home where she would be under hospice care. I pray she is able to make it home where she can peacefully live out her remaining days. Thank you all for the kind words and prayers! God bless!

There is something about that last year before turning 100 that seems to be a challenge to someone's health. Joe21, God rest his soul, is a good example of such. Living independently and enjoying life then suddenly his health took a downturn and we lost him shortly before he turned 100.
Well, my lovely Grandmother turned 99 last October. She has lived alone since my grandfather passed of Alzheimer's in 2014. The past few years we have had medical assistants visit daily but she still was very much independent. Around her 99th birthday she had a health scare but was able to recover and go back home.

Recently, she has gotten sick with pneumonia and is currently hospitalized. She has become very weak from not eating well due to all the coughing she has done the past few weeks. For the first time that I am aware of she is speaking like someone who is ready to hang it up. And who can blame her if she feels this way. It has to be terribly tiring ordeal to go through this at her age.

Please pray for her to have the strength she needs at this time to face whatever God has planned for her. She is the epitome of how any Christian follower should live. I've never heard her say an ill thing towards anyone and she has always been a kind and loving person to all, even in the most difficult of situations.

Thank you and God bless!
