Still trying to come to terms with that cross-eyed Tree mascot. What does that

That thing dates back to the mid-1970s...

The school was having a mascot identity crisis so the Stanford band jokingly rolled-out a bunch of different mascots during their halftime shows which included things like a French Fry and the Tree (among others). The Tree ended up receiving so much positive attention that the band decided to make it a permanent fixture.
Their official mascot is the "Cardinal" as in the color red the team wears.

Yes, the identity crisis came about because their mascot was (gasp) an Indian.

Yeah, that was probably in poor taste. The genocide of the indigenous peoples of California was pretty ugly, even compared to what happened to them in other parts of the country.

They looked pretty good against Syracuse. Hope Syracuse was just not a good team. Otherwise, I don't know how we became 20 point favorites but I hope it rings true.

Cuse has looked pretty good to me with some frickin athletes in the passing game. The fact Stanford went in on a Syracuse Friday night special and gutted out a win means they can find ways to slow down good teams. I think they present a bigger problem than the hoofpack D.

Those guys (1) do a lot of freaky things.
1. I figure using guys was least offensive to they. Did I do that right?

I think people aren't talking about Stanford for other reasons. Like; "thinking we are going to just show up and roll them"! Northern Cal has a more physical brand of football than Southern Cal.
I have seen post about FSU already. Why?
Stanford is our next opponent. Folks on the outside can look ahead, and many are choosing to do so. I know the team will be focused on Stanford as they are the biggest game on the schedule "right now"!

I like Stanford and their FB team typically is built like an old school B10 pro style offense. We they play notre lame I always pull for them. Beautiful campus and I'm a fan of the ecosystems in CA, just not the cities. My daughter lives in LBC and we often fly into San Fran and drive the PCH over a week to do hikes and stays in small towns before we ge to LBC.

I have a sister who lives in Davis. Her husband is a now retired professor at the vet school. I visit pretty much every year and we head out to Yosemite or Tahoe depending on time of year.
Came very close to taking a job in Silicon Valley about twenty years ago - Northern California climate, biodiversity, natural beauty…incredible.

I think they’re better than they’re getting credit for. Not enough credit for the win at Syracuse. Looking forward to seeing them in the valley. Wonder how many will be there who also saw us play them in the gator bowl. My dad took me and I was around 16 years old.
