"She attempted to resolve these issues with Watson without filing a lawsuit"

"Those efforts failed". That's how the lawsuit reads. In other words, she attempted to extort him for money, but he wouldn't play ball. Definitely looks like a money grab.

seems to be the mistake Watson made in the first place

and how this whole thing came out. I wonder if he would have just paid out the first one if it would have just gone away without ever hitting the media.

in an effort to further extort. He would have been better served spending 5 grand procuring someone to make her disappear or saved the 5 G & did it himself.

Money and trashy women, an expensive lesson.
On the other hand paying her off never works.
This has ruined DW4’s football career, but at least he didn’t end up in jail and broke, like Michael Vick.

See Trump and Stormy Daniels or that old bag that said he raped her in a dressing room next door to his 5 Star hotel.
Being rich and any association trashy women is a road to a lawsuit. It will cost you!
Just stay away from them…….

So you’re saying after sexually assaulting someone, Deshaun should’ve had them killed?

Yep. You can bet there is a morals clause they are going to try to exercise. Same situation as Houston. NFL ownership is pretty much just organized crime.

It happened in 2020 like all the other cases. This case would and should have been filed with the others, but I think they saved this particular one so they could reopen a wound to maximize and extend Watson's embarrassment. They knew people would automatically jump to the idea that he's still offending even though the supposed incident occurred in 2020 like the others. Then, they really rubbed it in by waiting until the opening week of the NFL regular season to file.

I wondered if they held this suit back purposely as well

Sounds totally possible. If true, it would be the most serious of any of the allegations as it is basically accusing him of full fledged rape. He settles the others and then boom. Here's a new suit that if the league determines has merit, his career is likely over. Brown's could void his contact if he didn't disclose this when he signed and I doubt anyone signs him after all of this plus he hasn't exactly been lighting it up

If the Browns didn't turn over every rock Watson walked by his entire life to that point looking for evidence to the allegations before signing him to that contract and giving up so much for him then its 100% on them, and nothing or no one else. Buyer beware. For the record I'm not saying he is or is not guilty. That's not for me to decide. I'm saying if it had been my money I'd have moved mountains to find out anything that needed to be found before doing that deal. Anything less is unacceptable and they should have no legal outs imho.

except his contract specifically stipulates it was his responsibility

to represent and warrant except as otherwise disclosed any potential claims to the club in writing. He was basically given an opportunity by the Browns to have a get out of jail free card as long as he disclosed any potential allegations.

https://www.nbcsports.com/nfl/profootballtalk/rumor-mill/news/new-deshaun-watson-lawsuit-becomes-a-potential-problem-if-case-wasnt-disclosed-to-browns

paragraph 42: “Player hereby represents and warrants (except as otherwise disclosed to club in writing), as of the date hereof, that (1) Player has not been charged with, indicted for, convicted of or pled nolo contendre to any felony and/or misdemeanor involving fraud or moral turpitude, (ii) Player has not engaged in conduct which could subject him to a charge, indictment or conviction of any such offense, and (iii) no circumstances exist that would prevent Player’s continuing availability to the Club for duration of this Contract.”

Did Watson disclose this specific potential claim to the Browns in writing before he signed the contract? That’s the key question. If he did, the lawsuit can’t activate paragraph 42. If he didn’t, things get potentially complicated.

Based on the default language connected to the various guarantees, Watson doesn’t necessarily have to be suspended for the payments to be voided. Instead, if he “violates any material term of the Contract {included, but not limited to, Paragraph 42),” Watson has defaulted and the future guarantees can be voided.

You don't have to be a Clemson fan to connect the dots.

Clemson graduate here, but he's getting what HE expected... Somehow he was relevant in the darkness of the Midwest enough that you morons "route" for him to have a giant contract.

The timing is very odd to me. Deshaun is not playing well in Cleveland. I wonder if there is a clause that would negate the guaranteed money for this type of event. or maybe it is just a money grab. If there is some truth to it . Then it becomes a very serious pattern.

Yes, it could negate his contract with the Browns and I’m sure at this point they’d jump at the chance. Also, Goodell wanted a full season suspension which was reduced to 11 games. Any future claims or cases would open this back up and he could be looking at more time away. Like bad marriages, trouble is a lot harder to get out of than into .. I thought he was already on his last leg ..he could be crawling away after this one ..

Buzbee and all these girls are scum.

DW4 was guilty of having too many massage therapists. And I can believe he proposed consensual sex with many of them, but I don’t believe he forced himself on them. That’s what I believe.

This is multiple cases of “he said she said”. As far as I know, in each instance, there were only two people in the room.

The word I heard from an NFL scout a couple years ago was DW4 said McNair (Texans owner) was racist. From that point onward the McNair family has worked to ruin DW4’s life and they have been fairly successful.

With a lot of money, a few good attorneys and a well thought out plan, unfortunately it’s not hard to ruin somebody’s life.

Even though the Browns OL was abysmal Sunday, Watson did look more dejected and distracted than usual throughout the game. He definitely knew the lawsuit was getting filed during the game IMO. That likely played at least some role in his less than stellar play.
