Trump is trying to normalize the idea of deporting people that are his perceived enemies, pretty much just because he doesn't like them.
He considers Rosie to be a personal or political enemy of his. Their mutual disdain goes by about 20 years at least.
He's made threats to potentially deport Elon Musk. Personally, I despise Musk. But again this is due to Musk becoming a potential political enemy and their recent clashes that resulted in Musk leaving DOGE.
Then, there's Mamdani, the NYC mayoral candidate, who Trump has said might be here illegally (Mamdani is a US citizen). Trump says, "A lot of people are saying he’s here illegally. We’re going to look at everything.”
This is dictator-type language, where citizens in good standing in the US are threatened with arrest or deportation, or something...essentially just because he doesn't like them, or because he thinks they're his political enemy.
This doesn't bode well for our future as a nation of laws.
