Apparently some reddit posters are questioning the validity to Lee Brice's claims that he ever played football for Clemson? Was anyone around the team in the 1997-2001 range that can speak to Brice ever being a part of the team? It appears he never played a down for Clemson, but can anyone speak to his involvement in either spring or fall practices?

walkon was winning the job in practice and then got hurt and was put on scholarship - which they can do for med reasons and not count against the 85- happens alot- based on timing the conversation about starting/earning a scholly may have just been between him and coaches- he was a longsnapper, there wasn't going to be a lot of media coverage on that and I'm sure most of his teammates would only have partial 2nd hand knowledge of his particular situation

That's what I was thinking too...he quit in fall camp or something, which is why I was wondering if anyone either on or around the team in 1997-2001 could verify knowing him or seeing him on the practice field.
Here's the 1998 official media guide that lists all players (including walk-ons). He's not listed, so he must have left the team before the season started. He's made claims to having run on the field before for games, which seems to be a lie.

he told me he was a walk-on center, we were smoking a ton of dope though. this would have been back in 95 I believe.
