Rainy day, listening to my 70s playlist

Technically, the 80s were my decade (my middle school thru early college years), but as I've gotten older, the 70s are my favorite decade for music of all kinds - rock, pop, R&B, etc. Nice soundtrack for a rainy Thursday.

There seemed to be a whole lot of them back in that era. Some of the One Hit Wonder bands had some really colorful names, too. Lemon Pipers, Strawberry Alarm Clock, Stampeders, Wadsworth Mansion, Edison Lighthouse, just to name a few that immediately spring to the old unspringy mind.

:)

Those two decades put out the best music in my opinion.

Went on to join Lynyrd Skynyrd. Had a pretty big influence on their music.

I'd be playing my classic rock, and oldies. My daughter would ask; why do we have to listen to that old man music, and my son would tell me, that it was all crap. Funny thing is, I look at their playlists, and most of what I see is Classic Rock and oldies.

Wrong day of week song, but angelic voice

hope this song is included on your playlist:

Rainy Days and Mondays - Karen Carpenter.

Indescribable alto female voice. She and Richard, her brother, who did all the arrangements and song writing, must've had something like ten number one hits. Arguably the greatest female vocalist ever, and added no fluff when she sang, just put the notes out.

Of course they're on the playlist!

That song and about a dozen and a half more of their's. Silky smooth voice and, what a lot of people don't know - actually a pretty good drummer

When I was little (I was born in '69), I heard this song and thought it was about a picnic on the 4th of July. Skyrockets in flight, afternoon delight. Now I know that it wasn't! "Rubbing sticks and stones together makes the sparks ignite" is not about sticks and stones!

1969-early to mid-70s were good years for music.
