This quote from our current OL target should be rather eye-opening for all of you here still clinging to your "but Clemson already uses the portal" stance. Here is his quote. "After I made my decision, I didn't think that Clemson would be taking portal guys."
The fact of the matter is that among the actual PLAYERS, there is the perception that we don't do the portal thing. And for the vast majority of players, the perception IS the reality to them. We now have to work extra hard to overcome this perception by actually landing a few portalers. I don't like it either, but I like losing 4 games every year and missing the CFP even less.
And before you downvote, I'll actually be at the Gator Bowl.

I knew this would happen. Do you really want to go play somewhere that recently viewed your ilk in a negative light? (I know it's not the actual reality but it will be the general perception)

your Portal,Portal,Portal Aganda, that a Clemson Offer to a Portaler is just as RARE and Special as an Offer to a HS kid.

So true. Can you imagine how thrilled this kid was to actually get an offer from Clemson as a portal candidate? Knowing how selective we are in all phases of recruitment? Can likely say the same for any other portaler to get an offer from this staff.

Glass half full interpretation. Clemson is not taking portal guys the same way they don’t make 250 scholarship offers to HS student each year. If Clemson is interested in you, then Clemson contacts you. Just my thoughts.

I'm just telling you, Dabo's actual words on NIL and portal ARE 100% being used against him in recruiting. He made emotional comments that are coming back to bit him.
