to Clemson over UGA? Not trying to pile on, but just saying he was not an asset as a full time coach. Probably a helluva analyst though.

if I were a 20 year old muscular football specimen.
Even at my age, I'm fired up!! Those 2 guys are perfect for each other.

I'm coming up on 44 years old with one bad knee and another going, it seems like a different joint ache everyday, and man I might just run through one right now! Or at least try to and hurt myself, lol!

I just will never understand the WG hire. He may have been great to analyze and game plan but clearly wasnt ready for on field in game coaching and since he hadnt done that elevating him to DC didnt work. At least w AUstin he had some position coaching experience and understudied w Robbie also.

when Wes was hired, but from anyone outside the program it was dumb from the onset. I'd say there are alot of guys in football with his smarts and ability to diagram, scheme, etc. but its the intangible of actually working with players face to face and being able to motivate, coach, inspire, adjust, etc in the moment that not very many can do well.

It was similar to us hiring Tommy West to try to recreate what Ford did.

I honestly believe the Wes promotion was a knee jerk reaction to BV leaving. BV had already taken several coaches with him as he exited stage right and he really wanted Wes to go with him and Wes had planned to go with him. Dabo felt he had to draw the line in the sand and offered Wes the DC role to get him to stay.
I don't think a lot of thought went into it; Dabo just didn't want to see his entire defensive braintrust leaving the building and I'm also sure he probably thought he could develop Wes along the way, and was willing to take the chance to keep some continuity in place.

Well, Dabo thought he could catch lightning in a bottle again, like he did with Jeff Scott and Tony Elliott. But, this time it didn't work out and that's that is Coach Swinney's fault and to his credit coach admitted that yesterday in the press conference. That the failure was on him not Wes. Dabo is a great leader. He always gives credit to others when things go right, and takes the blame when things go wrong. I think he has learned his lesson, and probably won't repeat it again.

by generational talents such as Deshaun Watson, Trevor Lawrence, Mike Williams, etc.
Neither have had very good offenses since then.

JK, I will again remind you, Clemson 2nd only to Alabama in playoff appearances. Take a look at the the winning percentages over the last 15 years. Take a look at the graduation rates. Take a look at the pros Clemson has produced. Then spew more of your BS. Get over your DDS. You are getting boring.

OC Riley lost media privileges enjoyed by Morris, Elliott, Scott, BV and more due to Goodwin being awkward with the press.
(pause .......................................... yeah)

On-field leadership skills like probable weakness in making adjustments during games and relationships with his players as being a tough-nose coach..
BUT that said, I am not a big OC Riley fan either ~> as far as his on camera presence is concerned since he comes off as a nice guy but a bit introverted, low-key, studied, etc.
Saying, he’s not a strong figure speak-wise but of course knows his craft and has had to go slow to work the players inherited into his scheme which has had them improved a bit each season.
Also, I personally feel that Dabo had some offensive play-calling reins on Garrett the 1st year for sure..and only this year did he look in charge on the sidelines, imo.

Good point LBB, however I think on offense you can get away with that a little bit, being the mad scientist working in the laboratory behind the scenes as offense isn't played off raw emotion as much as defense is. Offensive lineman need to be extremely fired up and Rowdy but they got a bad butt coaching them that can get that out of them! Need a level head in the QB's ear.

my hypothesis/take - you can't show one coordinator and not the other so it's best to shown none
