One of my biggest problems with Brad Brownell

8

Mar 30, 2023, 9:34 AM

Is that he has only taken us to the NCAAT 3 times in 13 years. I’m not sure how many of you realized that. And then when he had the opportunity to show the committee they screwed up, he laid an egg. Lost first round of NIT. And yes I’d rather lose the first round of the NCAAT than the first round of the NIT. I know I’m crazy to think we could do better. But just seems like we could.

You have a problem with fans wanting to win?

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

Being content with inconsistency and mediocrity...

3

Mar 30, 2023, 10:22 AM

is absolutely a loser mentality.

Based on the SOS ranking, yes it was...

3

Mar 30, 2023, 10:59 AM

particularly when you consider the four bad Quad 3 and 4 losses against South Carolina, Illinois-Chicago, Boston College, and Louisville which ultimately kept Clemson out of the NCAA Tournament.

We are looking at a body of work. 23 is the number.

23% of the time he has made the NCAAT. Definition of pathetic.

If he was such a great coach why hasn’t he ever been in the talk about coaching vacancies? That should be enough evidence that he is a sub-mediocre coach. Neff made a mistake!!!!!

Cob, you’re the crappiest “fan” on this site. No one in the country wants Brad. If someone did he would haul ### to get away from us crappy fans first chance.

badge-donor-05yr.jpg flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

Clemson doesn't care about basketball....as evidenced by Brown-L getting 14 years.

My only problem with Brad. Is he still Clemson's coach. Other than that, I hope he enjoys his retirement

I'm too busy and lazy to look up and verify but if this is true, I am floored he is still our coach.

It is entirely accurate...

2

Mar 30, 2023, 10:21 AM

Of course, there are some members of this forum (the lunatic fringe) who would have you believe that making the NCAA Tournament far more frequently is not indicative of a successful program.

It's nice that we can keep all the delusion in one thread!

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

Which delusion are you talking about?

3

Mar 30, 2023, 10:04 AM

I’m pretty sure 3/13 NCAATs is factual. Losing first round of nit is factual. Are you saying the hope we could do better is delusional? I’m confused. Maybe you aren’t a fan?

Re: One of my biggest problems with Brad Brownell

3

Mar 30, 2023, 11:03 AM

My biggest problem with him is that he’s still the head coach at Clemson.

2025 orange level member flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

Your problem is that you expect Brownell and Clemson

4

Mar 30, 2023, 11:16 AM

basketball to be better at a small town football crazy school without spending a whole lot more money on the program.

ALL good basketball players come from big cities and ONLY go to basketball-first schools that invest trillions into the program and are located in those big urban/metro areas. Schools with tiny budgets like Clemson never make it to the NCAAT or put players in the NBA.

What Brownell needs is trillions of dollars and 30+ years to build his brand, and even then you can't really expect too much, since Clemson is football school located in the middle of nowhere. So instead of complaining, let's get busy celebrating the tremendous relative success of our basketball program over the last 13 years.

NOTE/ADD: In case some of you may have an old sarcasm meter that needs tweaking, that is literally the massive load of insanity that some on here spew.

Chokes in every game that really matters, consistently gets outcoached and his solution is just jack up threes, can't recruit, has never brought home a trophy of any kind, not even the NIT. Shows almost 0 passion for the university or winning, Brings in a six-3 160 pound mid major kid and thinks that's gonna help the program. Cries like a baby for being left out of the tournament when all he had to do was beat Louisville, AT HOME. I could just go on and on
