I try not to respond to such deranged moronic posts, but here it goes...
1. Jonathon baehre was a 6-10 PF. He also played C at times. Nick honor and Dawes did not steal any minutes from him. His career was severely hampered by injuries. He averages 4 ppg overseas
2. O-Max was a SF slasher type. Just like many freshman, he wasnt ready to make a big time impact. Clyde trapp's stat line that year was better than omax's during his soph year at marquette. Omax was never a great college player. He got drafted based on his measurables, athleticism, and solid combine performance
3. Schef will be starting at the 4
4. Post moves can still be utilized when playing the 3
5. You dont know jack sh!t about wiggins ability.
6. Dawes is listed at 6'2. Far from a "midget" ar the PG spot.
7. You are an id!ot.
No, Mountaineers, it's you and that Coach of yours who are playing with way too few marbles. And YES,the freaking Guards did steal minutes from the Forwards in 2020/21.
Dawes (26), Honor (23), Trapp (29), Hemenway (16), Newman (16), Hunter (14), EOB (1): that's 110 MinPerGame from 6'3" Guards and another 16 from 6'5" Newman, who played both the 2 and the 3. That's at least 37 MinPerGame from Guards, not even counting Newman.
We averaged - AVERAGED - a 3-Guard Lineup that year because of your Coach - and his propensity for Midgets.
The Pros-to-be on that team? Simms (30), Tyson (16), Baehre (17), Hall (10), and Prosper (10). That's 83 MinPerGame for the Forwards - 2 players at 40 per game - even though they're all Pro worthy.
And this even though Tyson, Prosper, and Baehre are all Wing-types at the next level, not PF, and should have been playing it all along in College. Here's the clowns you want playing at PF in the Pros: Baehre (209 lbs), Tyson (215), and Prosper (210). ALL are listed on Draft sites as SF or PF in the draft, and the heaviest, Tyson, is listed as ONLY a Small Forward.
And, yes, Baehre had injuries, but this is from his last year with us - he still only got 17 MPG.
What's the impact of your Coach's failure to use his Talent? Well, let's see: the 2020/21 team was actually OUT-REBOUNDED on the year!
And here's last year's Pathetic loss to South Carolina: we get out rebounded 50 to 32, largely in part because we play Galloway-Hemenway-Hunter-Beadle a total of 109 minutes, while Schieffelin-Middlebrooks-Godfrey-Wiggins combined only got 34 minutes. Tyson was your Starting PF that night, playing 28 minutes and getting 4 Rebs. Tyson even had less minutes that night than did every one of the top 3 Guards!
The 2022/23 team played its best ball when Schieffelin was finally inserted at the 4 as you noted, and Tyson moved to the 3, but by that time they had already submarined their own season by losing to UofSC and yes, Loyola Chicago.
If you don't play your talent, it doesn't mature; if you don't practice your talent, it doesn't mature; if you show favoritism to players like Hemenway, et al, then other, more talented players move on.
YOU are the idiot Mountaineers, and your Coach, and I'm fed up with the BS you all put on this site. You're all little more than Vampires feeding off the body of the Clemson Basketball Program. Your Coach cannot, in fact, Coach, and only the moronic few cannot see this.

I know you’re retaliating in kind but I don’t understand why he’s allowed personal attacks in nearly every post. He’s a strange one. A Judge Keller wannabe whose basketball takes are so bad even JK has him on ignore. His knowledge of Clemson basketball history seems to end with Purnell’s last season and trash talking the recruits he left behind. Fact is - as to actual player stats and their pro futures - you’re dead on. When Clemson’s finally done paying Brownell millions some NBA franchise should hire him as a consultant to tell them who he wouldn’t put on the floor so they can more easily identify potential NBA talent. You think these guys would have slunk off after Morehead State but they wear Brownell’s mediocrity as a badge of honor.

I have probably missed less than a dozen Clemson basketball games - in whatever form they were available at the time - in the last 40 years. Which is why it is readily transparent to me that you cannot say the same.

I guess you think you’ve really nailed me because of my “why watch? Life is suffering.” I had to go back and look it up. I was clearly being silly. “Life is suffering”? This is a sports forum. None of this #### matters. Further, I don’t often (I’m not gonna say never because I’m sure you’ll dig through my thousands of posts looking for a Gotcha!) create a topic bashing our team or offering my negative outlook. I respond to the nonsense that you and your ilk have flooded this board with for years. Finally, there is no comparison between predicting doom for our football and basketball programs. After 1 loss that OP predicted an 8 win season. Clemson has won 10 games or more for 12 consecutive seasons. An active feat matched only by Alabama. Third longest in the history of college football. Alabama and Clemson are the only teams with win streaks in the past 3 seasons. But sure Dabo sucks and we are suddenly a team
with an 8 win ceiling. Basketball offers absolutely no such antecedents as we approach the start of year 14. Brad will in all likelihood underperform out of conference, over perform in conference, leave the ACC tourney early, and finish the season with no hardware. But yes, I will continue to watch and pray that I outlive this atrocity.

I never said anything about “when all they do is complain” a predicate to view my response as hypocritical.

Lmao that you believe nick honor and dawes stole minutes from jonathon baehre. Really just shows how clueless you are. Jonathon baehre ranked 8th on the team in FG %, 7th on the team in 3pt %, 7th on the team in points per 40 minutes, while playing the fifth most minutes on the team. He only averaged .6 more rebounds per 40 minutes that clyde trapp. O-max's stats where slightly worse than that. What exactly warranted him getting more minutes?
Also you do realize that most collegiate players can play overseas if they want, right? We beat the brakes off of most professional teams when we play abroad. Catelin baciu was a pro overseas. Nick honor and al amir dawes will be able to play overseas if they want. You could say that every player on our team is a future pro type talent by those standards. You are embarrassing.
Why do you think that dabo isn't starting peter woods? I thought you had to play the players with the most potential over older guys that are currently performing at a higher level. Bad dabo!

This just in! Old mike believes that upsets do not happen in college basketball. He doesn't realize that a 1 seed in the NIT loses in the first round nearly every year! Since we beat duke, does that mean we were way better than them last year?
To reiterate how stupid and uninformed your post was, jonathon baehre is the second tallest player on his roster overseas and he is listed as a PF. Link below. Many teams in the acc play 3 guards, and if we put him at the 3, he would have been stuck guarding kids 6" shorter than him at times. He wasnt the quickest especially considering his injuries and it would have been a mismatch in many games.

Ok Mountaineer - let’s take a look at your claim
In 2023 two #1 seeds lost
Clemson lost to Morehead State 68-64. This was ACC regular season #3 versus the Ohio Valley Conference regular season champ. RPI 80 versus 135. (55 differential)
Rutgers lost to Hofstra in OT. RPI 101 versus RPI 61. (-40 differential). Oopsies. Hofstra was the better team and won despite playing on the road.
In 2022 no upsets
In 2021
St Louis lost to Miss State. RPI 110 versus RPI 104. Oopsies again. (-6 differential)
Ole Miss lost to La Tech. RPI 105 versus RPI 28. Oopsies again again (-77 differential)
In 2020
No tourney
In 2019
Alabama lost to Norfolk State. RPI 67 versus RPI 201 (134 differential)
In the last 5 years 5 one seeds lost their opening game. But only 2 of them should have been favorites. Clemson and Alabama. I wonder what Alabama did when their coach lost in humiliating fashion to a bad team at home in the NIT? I wonder how that change has impacted the fortunes of their basketball program at a traditional football power that couldn’t possibly expect to be successful at basketball too? I know what Clemson did and am pretty sure what we can expect.
Btw - Avery Johnson’s first 4 seasons at Alabama were significantly better than Brownell’s first four at Clemson. Yet here we are.

Never better than 55 the other 11 seasons. Over 13 seasons he is more likely to have an rpi over 100 than under. It’s bad. Especially for a guy who’s making $3 million plus a season. You can pay 10 cents on the dollar for those returns.
