So, the question I have is if the ACC drops below 15 is the GOR nullified? OR Do we pay the exit fee, have the ACC make off like a bandit with 100 million dollars from us and THEN their media contract becomes void upon our exit if that makes sense.
The short of my question is have we found our way out of the GOR or are we paying an organization that may not even exist in a couple of years?

but ESPN would have the right to reduce the amount the ACC currently receives. Without FSU and Clemson, that would likely result in a significant decrease.

Maybe we can use this as leverage to at least reduce the payout.

Hail that a GOR can be enforced if revenue is slashed. NOT. A. CHANCE.
If, in fact, that were a possibility; i.e., GOR enforcement, then every freaking public institution in the conference should see it's leadership and BOT sued for fiduciary irresponsibility. The taxpayers would deserve no less. Clean house...start anew.

Nonsense. Status quo on GOR and a reduction in the financial incentives (ROFLMAO)...yeah, that'll fly with pigs all day. Rest assured, the messier this gets, the more nervous the member institutions leadership will get, too.

Taking these 3 schools is the ACC preparing itself for FSU and Clemson to leave.
It's a smart step for the conference. I wish it well in the rear-view mirror.

.... then FSU and Clemson have all sorts of leverage. "We'll vot to expand if you drop our exit fee and release us from GOR. We're leaving sooner or later. Let us leave now and we'll save your ESPN contract."

Clemson and FSU isn't going anywhere until the GOR expires. ESPN and the ACC aren't protecting themselves for current, 'right now', departures and the ACC isn't going to let those two schools leave to let the left wing liberal schools in. You guys really think the ACC won't enforce the GOR and will let you leave in exchange for Cal and Stanford??? Not a chance. When Cal and Stanford comes in you will never get out until another decade passes. The move is to strengthen the ACC against a vote to dissolve the conference. This is a checkmate move that puts you and FSU in the corner for good.
As powerful as Texas is they had to wait until the GOR was ready to expire. Yours is a long, long way off. No conference is going to take a chance on adding you and then opening the door for hundreds of millions of dollars in a lawsuit brought against them by the ACC. Not gonna happen. Would like to see you over here with us but that reality, unfortunately, is a long way off due to signing that GOR twice.

Boy you have never been more wrong. I hate to tell you but all insiders are pointing to a Clemson exit. I don’t think it’s a coincidence that finebaum has basically done an about face on Clemson in the last 2 weeks. FSU as well.

I do not see how any changes to membership would not affect the GOR. Makes logical sense unless there is verbiage that states additions or subtractions does not VOID the said contract. Which maybe the case. Not sure if most of these higher ups even read the deal.

Don’t assume the ESPN renegotiation clause is limited to 15 team composition. A 16 team conference without FSU and Clemson isn’t even close to the current situation for ESPN viewership numbers. No doubt ESPN can force the ACC back to the table based on historical viewership numbers achieved by the newly proposed conference members.
