I loved wrestling in the 80's. Early to mid-90's I stopped watching because it got silly and I was in high school, so it wasn't cool to do. I guess it was around 96 give or take I found out about Monday Nitro and that Ric Flair was going to wrestle Hulk Hogan. I tuned in because as a kid that was a dream match. It wasn't long after that the NWO debuted and I was glued to wrestling again. IMO, that was the last great run of professional wrestling and they ruined the story line by having half the roster in the group.
Said all that to say a couple years ago I was bored so I tried to give it a shot. Today's wrestling is so horrible I don't see how it stays in business and I don't see how an adult would want to watch it.

It was better when kayfabe was still maintained, or an attempt was made to do so, and there were regional territories and promotions. The real money was in live events, day-in, day-out, held in small auditoriums and high school gyms, all the way up to weekly shows at The Omni and MSG, and TV was used to promote that. Now it's just the other way around, for the most part, with occasional big pay-per-view events and almost no small house shows. Plus, the story lines mainly revolved around rasslin' and the rasslers actually rassled or at least really worked the crowd with some convincing and entertaining back and forth action in the ring. Now, talking and build up takes up most of the time, and matches are either ridiculous displays of acrobatics or violent attacks involving a lot of non-rasslin' props and antics. Plus the story lines they come up with are comparatively lame.

I volunteer his ring name. It should be "Mario Taylor."

And as part of his act, he should always walk out being interviewed by a tall black female sports reporter type.
