This board has been full of opinions about fball declining. Losing to scar 2 out of 3 years AT HOME is just one indicator.

I know opinions are like noses, but when we were perennially ranked in the top 10 and the top 5 there was no disappointment in the program on the board. Now my sense is there is more disenchantment here than optimism. Just my take.

I think the only real point of dispute is what the magnitude or speed of the decline is. Even most of the sharpest critics wouldn't argue we should go 15-0 or 14-1 every year - that's just a straw man. The issue is more about how we're doing relative to our potential, and considering the level competition in a given year. Simplistic assessments based solely or primarily on record or whether we achieve this or that milestone are not necessarily the most accurate way to judge the matter.

I think it's possible to cite this as a good, year overall, but still note that on the whole we seem to be in a decline. Those things are not contradictory. It's not like every 9 or 10 win season is the exactly the same as any other.

games are still league basketball games no matter what happened the last few days. Going to those places and winning can never be taken for granted by anyone. Miami this Saturday will not be easy - JL will have them ready to go.
