In all fairness, people post celebrating when a Sec team loses or is eliminated.

It’s warranted for that to happen because the SEC started that trend of conference bias first.
To me, it literally was Carolina that started that crap. Being open about rooting for Alabama. Against Clemson of course.
But then them also continuing to make it known that any other SEC team’s fortune is also Soith Carolina’s own fortune, that’s why it was them
Alabama fans never gave a sh** what happened with other SEC teams once Alabama’s season was over.
It’s the fans of the programs in the SEC that don’t succeed ever. And they seriously act as if the rest of the SEC is for them.

Let's not pretend conference affiliation doesn't matter. Folks here, when they're not trashing the SEC, would give up an appendage to have Clemson join the SEC.
The SEC has been on a crazy run of CFB success. National titles, bowl wins, out of conference wins, and putting players into the NFL. It could all change with NIL and the portal, but it's been a source of pride for fanbases of SEC teams. If the ACC or Big 12 had this kind or run, those fans would also be chirping about it. If conference affiliation didn't matter, people here wouldn't bother to express their glee anytime an SEC team loses.

I've considered this phenomenon for a while , trying to understand rooting for the group affiliation. As a Clemson fan I can never understand how someone would pull so much for any other team to win anything , unless it directly affects Clemson in some positive way. Then ...and only then , would I do so. That mild interest ends at the end of that particular contest. In my sight , everyone out there is the enemy if they aren't sporting that 1 o'clock paw. I believe that folks who do the conference cheering/touting have either gotten saddled with low self esteem and choose any kind of pick-me-up that they can find or they belong to a fanbase in which the successes are few and far between (Coot fans ...for example) and find an angle to claim some sort of imagined superiority . That's what I think. To each their own though , eh ?
Go Tigers ! Clemson Tigers !

I've been in tnet since 2001. Never posted conference homer garbage. You small weener fans posted that clemson had an easier schedule but didn't push sec homerism.
That sec nonsense didn't start until espn started puhomeroom. Then you morans jumped on Bama bandwagon and tried to ride their wins.
You dumb dogs and cooky coots started flooding tnet with sec bullsnap because your schools couldn't even win a date in a weekends women's prison with a handful of pardons.
I've been to many a football game with Bama fans and they never once chanted that nonsense.
Kentucky fans are the worst at it.

It's quite easy to understand. We are in the South. We depended on each other in the War of Northern Aggression - you of all people should understand that. That same bond of pulling for each other carries on to this day. It's us against them. How do you expect your conference to excel by hating each other? I've noticed two things that are similar. The B12 and the ACC do not pull for each other. Both continue to crumble. We want the best for each other and are thriving. Can't understand why you don't want the best for the ACC. No individual team is more important than the conference. The well-being of the conference is just as important as our individual teams.
