Info I didn't know about the Puntrooskie game

They say FSU called a TO with none left.
Also this is listed as the 71st best game of all time.

No. 71 - The Gambler Florida State 24Clemson 21 September 13, 1988 The Seminoles began the 1988 season ranked No. 1 and thought to have all the pieces in place. After an opening day 31-0 thrashing at the hands of Miami, the college football world forgot about the Noles as they came into Death Valley ranked tenth against the No.3 ranked Clemson Tigers. Spurred on by an electrifying punt return for a touchdown by Deion Sanders, the Seminoles appeared to have the win in hand if their defense could hold late in the game. They couldnt as Clemson quarterback Rodney Williams led the Tigers to a late game-tying touchdown. Now the momentum had swung back in Clemsons favor as the defense stuffed FSU three times to force a punt. With the game tied at 21, Clemson appeared to be getting one last shot. It looked like disaster had struck as the ball was snapped the ball over the punters head. Not quite. Head coach Bobby Bowden called for the puntrooskie where the ball was directly snapped to the upback, which in this case was future NFL star LeRoy Butler, who took off left while the punter would fake that the ball went over his head. Two Seminoles ran around the right side. Butler tore off down the sideline past the stunned TIgers before being knocked out at the one. A gambling, brilliant play call by Bowden would seal the game, right? Not quite. After getting stuffed on third down, the Noles called timeout. Only they didnt have any timeouts left but the clock stopped :35 to play anyway. On the next snap, FSU scored a touchdown only to have it called back by a confused crew of referees. They werent sure what they called, but essentially, they said that FSU was wrong for calling the timeout. Even so, the Noles werent penalized. Bowden decided to kick the field goal, a dicey proposition considering his kickers were 0-3 on field goals for the season. They nailed the field goal and won the game 24-21. Historical Significance: This would be Florida State's last tough game until the Sugar Bowl as the Noles steamrolled through the rest of their schedule to finish 11-1 and No. 3 in the country. Clemson would go on to finish 10-2 and ranked eighth in one poll, ninth in another. They lost their two games by a total of ten points.

I remember that from being at the game...

Bobby Bowden was out on the field and fans were throwing stuff on the field booing. An orange seat cushion somebody in S or T threw almost hit him and it came from a pretty far distance plus he was out around the numbers.

I was at the game, time out or no timeout left, the word was we knew they had it, we knew they had parcticed it, and we were not expecting it...it was the sickest I have ever been after a tiger loss, but, believe me, Danny and the tigers paid them back in spades the next game

that was a totally different part of that game. The only reason LCHB even used the word puntrooskie was to refer to which game he was talking about. The two incidents were in different quarters at the very least.

I do remeber when Deon ran back the punt for a TD that all kinds of stuff was thrown on the field at him while he was in the end zone.

FSU called the TO and the refs looked at each other not

knowing what to do. This writeup is different than I remember it and I think they finally did penalize FSU five yards. It really didn't matter because everyone know the FG was going to be good.

"everyone know the FG was going to be good"
Are you not privy to the FSU field goal history, mainly against Miami?

I think the line of scrimmage was either the one or the three...chip shot...and I remember Sanders running his mouth to the fans on the punt and he took it back...that one took a lot of getting over.
