I'd miss the ACC

This might be an unpopular opinion (genuinely unsure), but if we end up jumping to the SEC - either in a month or a decade - I'll miss the ACC. I really like the rivalries and (for the most part) the teams. I think that most fan bases are great, we tend to be close geographically, and we have a ton of history with most of the teams. Plus, we end up winning a lot, which I'll be honest, is fun. Further, the ACC has a great academic reputation, which is a nice association.
Now, I don't like the ACC management - Ole' Swofford, UNC's history of favoritism, etc - and that's a big problem moving forward. I also don't think it's acceptable to be left behind monetarily, especially to our in-state rivals, just because we're in a different conference. That needs to get fixed, and that probably means finding a new conference home.
All that just to say, that when we do move, I'll be a bit sad to leave the history and rivalries that we've had over the years. Also, it's kinda ingrained in me to hate the SEC in general, so joining them would be a tough pill to swallow....

You should never allow the small chit to get in the way of greatness, and I truly believe that Clemson would recruit much better in FB as a SEC team....

I won't. All they have ever done is screw us. Wake Forest is our only true ally in the conference.

Yes, Wake is one of the "good fan bases" that I mention. I went to a game up there when I was a student, great memories.

Every post on this site boils down to winning and losing. Our across the board, overall, number of wins would be smaller if we went to the SEC and we would never considered one of the top teams in any sport in the SEC, except soccer. I don't care that my opinion on this is not what others think but if you think we would be mentioned in the same group of the top SEC teams just by switching conferences, you are wrong until we prove that. Would that happen, hopefully. If we joined the SEC in 2026 for example, the football world would still consider at least Alabama, LSU, Oklahoma and Texas stronger than we are unless we have proven that with another National Championship. We would not be a little fish but we not be the biggest.

Historically Clemson is behind those programs but in the current landscape better than all of them but Alabama and that's really all that matters.

I agree with you but.....it's just like selling a house, no one pays for sentiment. Sometimes, it's time to go...

Yeah, I think that's what makes it hard. We know it's the right thing to do, but I'll miss the good times.

I think you'd get over those glorious rivalries with NC State and GT real quick watching Clemson play SEC teams week in week out.

I'm with you there. One of the things I should have mentioned in the "things I don't like about the ACC" section would be the Northern Expansion. I'm a bit fan of regional rivalries, and playing BC, Pitt, Syracuse, etc just don't make sense to me.
But I would miss playing Wake, NC State, Ga Tech.... those folks that we've played forever, have driven to, and have history with. The "Classic ACC", I suppose.

Well if VT, Miami and say a GT would get back to where they were in years past we would be in a LOT better shape. Those schools needed to continue to have success to have made this deal work. Having a Clemson and or FL St. being the only dominant teams is terrible for football.
I’m at a loss on the basketball side. Bring in a Louisville, Syracuse and ND and the conference seems worse.
