How hard is it to get tickets to the national championship?

Yes, I'm looking way ahead, but it is a very real possibility and I want to be there to see us make history.
I'm guessing tickets go on sale January 1 since the two playoff games are December 31. Is it impossible to get them? Is it doable without having to spend an insane amount for tickets?

Tickets are insanely expensive and publicly available tickets have already been distributed via lottery. There is some weird auction style site (it's an official CFP promotion) where you can pay for the right to buy a particular team's tickets but if your team doesn't make it your money is forfeit. Oregon / Ohio State saw tickets plunge close to game time. I'm hoping the same will happen if we make it that far. I think they've over estimated fans' ability to go to a conference Championship, a semifinal, and a final. I'd love a Clemson Oklahomas State final with reasonable ticket prices.
Both schools get large allotments of tickets though. So, depending on your IPTAY level you can go that route. Honestly think it'll be hard for a huge contingent to make that investment.

The last orange bowl for national championship had some great offers. One was a package deal with Amtrak, car rental, hotel and tickets. From my recollection it wasn't that outrageous. Are any package deals like that out there yet

There are package deals available now with tickets and option to add hotel. It comes with pregame meet and greet and some other stuff and starts at $1500 or something. It is ridiculous considering it comes with very little. If we make it to National Championships, will IPTAY members get to order like we did for ACC Championship game? My tickets for ACC Championships were $70 each through IPTAY, but I could only order six for now. We didn't want to spend too much in hopes we can go to Arizona at the first of the year!

You can easily get tickets, just have to pay. Heck you can get Super Bowl tickets on the day of the game. This is one of a few good things the Internet has brought us. No game is truly ever sold out.
