I know it's been discussed already, but it can't be said enough.
Dude is a beast. Hats off to him and another monster game. He's the same every week, no matter the opponnent, no matter what. As a team we were unbelievably terrible Saturday night, but Phil Maffah was fantastic again.

He seemed a step slow to me Saturday night. There were huge holes past the LOS

but he couldn't get away from the LBs. He should have been fresher coming off an open date.

30 carries for 170 and 2 TD's

And our Tigers trailed for 75% of the game and trailed big when he was getting his best yardage.
Strange game, very strange. The team took forever to score and when we did it was as if our Tigers were going up against the 1985 Bears defense. Nothing down the field, everything around LOS. No middle throws, slants. I do not get it. Mafah did seemed fatigued but he is our bell-cow and had an awesome game. He certainly was not a part of the problem Saturday night, definitely played well.

Nothing over the middle and close to LOS sounds also a lot like our offense in the season opener too.

He was the best player on the team last Saturday.
That sucked tho when the game was still within reach in the 4th quarter and he ran out of bounds short of the sticks on 2nd down.
He had a full head of steam and I thought he was going to pound the defender for an easy first down.
We ended up going for it on 4th down and he was stuffed by a stacked box.

Mafah is tough and fast enough for a big back roll and has a chance to make a difference to some NFL team. Keep pounding big guy.

these are just the numbers... subjectively, I didn't recall him having much of a presence until after the game was lost. and when i just ran the numbers, i now see why.

Other team goes into a prevent defense. They are willing to give up 8 to 10 yards runs because it runs the clock.
We get the ball with over 11:00 in the 4th quarter and score a TD on a 6 plus minute drive, leaving less than 5 minutes on the clock.
Louisville will take that all day long.

He is certainly a beast but he gave up a few times

He’s 230lbs and would run out of bounds short of the sticks when he could’ve just bulldozed the DB. First time I’ve seen that out of him multiple times. When the offense is struggling, lowering the shoulder to get a 1st down instead of leaving it to 3rd and 2 makes a difference.

Phil is a great football player. No question about it. We are lucky to have him. However, how would you have liked to see Spiller or ETN with that much green grass around them? WOW!!

Missed Shipley imo. They were such a good 1-2 punch. Mafah got to stay fresh and some games Shipley would take over.

He's great....but we need to develop someone behind him....

I appreciate the offense's nice stats at the end of the game...Mafah's included.
But they did not put up points Saturday. Got to 21 really late.
I appreciate the "workhorse" model with Mafah....but I wonder if we will regret it eventually that we didn't get another RB up to speed or at least have a change of pace option.
