There's a few "tiers" in the ACC in basketball....like other conferences.
Every conference has had upsets, even in the same week...that's not novel.
Barring some sort of massive collapse....Clemson and Louisvlle, the teams tied for 2nd, are tournament teams that will be in with solid resumes and are certainly not anywhere near the "15th" team or whatever.

Duke is in a tier by themselves.

Clemson, Louisville, SMU & Wake are in the 2nd tier. These teams, through 12 games are 10-2 & 9-3 respectively in conference....that's consistent and very good.

Stanford, UNC, & maybe Pitt are in the 3rd tier at the moment, but are clearly top half of the conference at the moment.

The rest are probably in the same tier....with Miami being the very bottom....and perhaps a team will climb out of the bottom and into the top half.

Anyway...I get what he's saying overall...but the 2nd/15th team thing is a little much.

It’s a loaded question. If he does something notable this year - finally win an ACC title and/or make the NcAA for consecutive seasons and at least advance out of first weekend - then I might be convinced he has some latent talent for dealing with the current NIL/portal landscape of college basketball. If that’s is true, it would have nothing to do with the nonsense reasons people have used to defend him for the prior decade.

Btw - if we’re gonna beat Duke we should hope for it to be in the ACC tourney. Twice would be great but I’m not sure anyone in the country can beat them twice.
