GPS jamming - path for Iran to take non-violent retaliation against EU (& USA)

Iran has the capability of interfering with safe transportation of oil through the Straits of Hormuz via GPS jamming.

A few ships running into each other or running aground would impair the quantity of oil that reached the EU. (The EU would NEVER resort to buying Russian oil to get them through any reductions of Straits of Hormuz related oil shipments, would they?)

American oil prices (and subsequently gasoline prices) will probably increase if Iran’s possible GPS jamming operation turns out to be effective.

What’s a good way to limit the economic damage in the future from Middle East conflicts? Drill baby drill!

Believe it or not, captains still know how to navigate without gps.

Yes, that’s true.

But they navigate better with GPS. Furthermore, ship captains of today lack the mastery of ‘ancient’ navigation skills (compass, sextant, map-reading) that previous generations of ship captains had possessed. It is never a good thing for shipping when navigation expertise declines.

Additional context re increased navigation risks in Straits of Hormuz because of GPS jamming.

Two ships have already collided in Straits of Hormuz …
