Danny Pearman is paid $275,000 annually

Dec 27, 2022, 10:22 AM

(Admittedly a cut from when he was an on-field coach.)

He has "recruited" two graduate transfer quarterbacks, one who had already been here once and called us first. The other being Bear Bryant's grandson who has barely seen the field at either of his prior schools.

Point being, what does he do every day? Does he come to the office? What is the point of spending the money? Why was his contract extended by a year in February?

How can I get this job? Because I work hard and make nowhere near $275k.

Hello Mr negative

badge-donor-05yr.jpg flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

I suspect Pearman spends his time combing thru the players

Dec 27, 2022, 10:38 AM

in the portal (and there are thousands of them) - looking for players that meet a very specific criteria that has been laid out by Dabo...and there just aren't any/many.

The only specific need that has been provided is - "We need an emergency QB with some experience who knows up front that he will probably never see the field."

LOL - that seems to be the case!

If Dabo is such a man of integrity, why not save the taxpayers $275,000?

I think Pearman is scouring the portal - knowing that Dabo is going to stay loyal to the players Clemson recruited - just looking for a specific type of player who might fit in to the culture.

But - he was specifically asked to find that experienced, emergency QB - which he did.

And yes, it does seem like a pretty sweet gig for that salary.

Actually it was Hamp Green that “found him” in the portal and brought him up to Dabo. I think this is what the thread is about. Maybe Hamp gets a referral bonus?

Take a look at staff. Spiers (Dad) came to finish degree 10 years ago? He and one of his daughters on payroll. Danny Poole “retired” and insisted on staying on staff. Makes travel roster. Lots of ways to save $$$$.

I think the idea here is that you don't have any idea what DP does or doesn't do as part of his job. And neither do I.

Dude may be the most valuable guy we have behind the scenes, and he may be totally worthless. Who knows. Same with your relationship with your employer assuming you are employed.

It's a bit simpletonish to just run the guy down the road without knowing jack squat on an internet message board.

275k a year would bring in a real difference maker, or two, if it were applied to the NIL fund. Guess we would rather spend it keeping yet another good old boy employed doing nothing while simultaneously begging fans for more cash to keep up with Joneses. I mean I don't have anything against the guy, we should all be lucky enough to have a rich friend who gives us that kind of money a year to "work" in a made up do nothing position. I'm sure he keeps Dabos car clean at least.

Clemson should cut Pearman loose and just put his salary into the nil fund. He does absolutely nothing. He was the worst recruiter on staff during his time as an on field coach. He has robbed Clemson of countless amounts of money dating back to his days as a player when he was on scholarship.

That's fair. I thought he was retiring but he's consulting? But even if the O-Line went to crap on his watch, he was always given credit as a good recruiter.

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

Re: Danny Pearman is paid $275,000 annually

Dec 27, 2022, 9:41 PM

Exactly when do you think we had a better o-line? College o-lines suck because no one wants to play o-line. It is the position of last resort. There isn’t remotely enough talent to go around. Its ’s been economically incentivized for more than a decade but hasn’t made a dent in people wanting to play the position. These kind of pithy statements reveal a complete lack of interest or awareness about the sport.
