Dabo calling or not calling the plays.

Has anyone posted proof to show Dabo has been calling plays? IF so, I have not seen it or don't remember it being posted.
The last few years we have complained about Streater as OC, DJ as our QB, the WR's not getting any separation. We also complained about the OL, to many TO's, not going vertical with the play calling. Add in the fact that we had a new OC, a first-year starter at QB, etc.
This year, we have one of the best OL coaches in the business and is making a huge difference, we have one of the best OC's in his second year, better blocking, two new dynamite receivers who can get separation therefore opening up the underneath routes and running game, hardly any sacks, a QB who is more confidence in the game plan and making better decisions, TO's far less, kicking game is better, etc.
If Dabo was calling the plays and decided to let Riley have total control, how can the OL suddenly play better, the WR's start getting separation, our kicking improving, our QB making plays, etc. I'm sure he, as the HC, has some say in everything but he can't coach speed, FG/XP accuracy, turning the ball over, etc. So please, provide hardcore evidence that he has been calling the plays and finally gave it up.
Honestly, I don't care who is calling the plays as long as we keep winning!!
Go Tigers!!!!

is that last year before the ND game, Dabo made the changes on the OL. That was the beginning of the end for TA. And I know for certain he gave the recipe of what he wanted to do moving forward offensively during the BYE week of the ND game... running the bawl (which isn't his preference).
But no, this stuff happens so fast, it seems impossible to me that Dabo would call the plays. Does he say, "hey keep running it right here, or let's take a shot right here" I think of course.
Playcallers are calling stuff for a variety of reasons. They're setting stuff up and watching how safeties are reacting to certain looks early so that they can go back later.

Garrett had been calling the plays from DAY 1 of his arrival, and it’s not going to change.

I'm back and forth on this one. IMO the playcalling last year had everything to do with the personnel that were available, as well as the poor O Line play. I also felt (and still feel) that Grisham is not a great WR coach. Some may disagree, but whatever. He's nowhere near elite. Let's leave it at that.
With that said, I also think that Dabo decided to keep things very plain vanilla against Jawja, which to me made zero sense whatsoever. If you're going to beat Jawja, you HAVE to throw haymaker punches. You can't dink and dunk your way down the field and expect to win. I also think that Dabo did let the coaches make some personnel changes at WR for App State--and we saw the positive results. Dabo loves him some "redemption" stories....he pulls for the lower-rated guys...sometimes to the detriment of the higher-rated guys. There is no denying this.
Now that we have a) the personnel and b) the rejuvenated O Line play thanks to Coach Luke and c) a quarterback who appears confident and comfortable with the scheme we can afford to open the playbook and stretch the field and play more vertically.

As an FYI, we did not lose to UGA because we played conservative. We lost because we played poorly. Missed assignments, dropped passes, blown coverages, etc.

Right. The plays called in the first series at GA were the same as the first plays of the NC State game. Pass in the flat to Mafah. Also the first play of the second half vs NC State. Difference was Cade threw an awful pass on the first play vs GA and completed it for a nice gain vs NC State. And we had 2 penalties in that first series vs GA. jstone D329j is 100% correct.

The change we see is all about the OL IMO

Coach Luke has fixed our OL problems. Everything on offense relies on the OL, unless you have some amazing freak athlete at QB or RB.

If Coach Swinney isn't the final word on the play calling, who is he frantically talking to?

From David Hood on X
"I've also been told that yesterday was all Garrett Riley on the playcalls with help from someone in the box. Three different people told me that. Kinda the same of what I heard at the end of last season. Swinney can veto or chime in, but yesterday was all Garrett." Sept 1st.
As for me I have to do it all, OC, DC, and HC. Let me tell you it's exhausting and never appreciated.

Dabo definitely influenced the play calls in the SC game last year. Riley wanted to pass more and Dabo took the bat out of his hands and said we were going to run the ball. As a HC, that is his call. Otherwise, Riley makes the calls, but with input from others.

The best answer I have is this - Dabo had his Waffle House sized play sheet out every time he was on TV in the Georgia game (and most of last year). During the App St game and NC State, it was tucked. My GUESSS Is that he has been too involved in certain games.
We see on TNET all the time people complaining that the plays haven’t changed from Elliott to Streeter to Riley. What is the common denominator? It’s Dabo. He tried to run the offense with Napier as the Coordinator and we looked schizophrenic. One play, I formation, next spread. Dabo thinks he knows something about calling a game - unfortunately he doesn’t. When he INTERJECTS his plays it disrupts the play calling rhythm. He allowed Chad Morris to call the games and he deferred to Jeff Scott, but since then he wants to have control which lead to issues when Napier was OC and as well as Streeter. Fortunately, Jeff and Elliott were more trusted. He hired G RILEY and should have given him free rein, but it doesn’t seem that he did that. Now, he has backed off and we look far more explosive. Nothing else makes sense.
