Could it be they broke DJ his freshman year????

He threw nothing but rockets and seemed to lose his touch when he started throwing with less velocity. You see these receivers all the sudden catching everything (almost). Makes you wonder...

That shouldn’t be an excuse. If anyone should be broken, it’s Cade with the way they have yanked him out of every game he’s played in, but it hasn’t phased him

Totally agree with all of that. His heart especially.

Maybe it's a lot of things. Just seems his intermediate throws and especially his slants are so often wobbly and off.

DJ broke himself...

when came into his sophomore year fat and overconfident.
Dabo's lack of praise for DJ through spring and summer practice had me on pins and needles and the worst was confirmed.
Don't blame anyone but DJ for his problems. Only other possible blame Dabo sticking with him too long this year instead of grooming Cade to take over 3-4 games ago.

nah. i watched his high school highlights not too long ago. He had great touch and could throw the bullet.
My only explanation is that west coast football doesn’t hold a candle to southern football and he was made to look waaaaaay better than he really was.

Idk -- he played Bryce Young a couple times and they split the games.
Hard to say exactly where things went wrong for DJ. Regardless, glad to see him support CK2 and wish him well with whatever he decides to do after the season.

That exactly it: You watched "highlights" of DJ

There were doubts about his accuracy.
Some here despise Tom Luginbill of ESPN, particularly because he had DJ ranked far lower than Bryce Young and far lower than where 247 and Rivals had DJ. Turns out he was spot on.
DJ just could not adapt to the additional sophistication and speed of the college game vs. high school.
It isn't rocket science. Plenty of 5-star HS players don't succeed at the college level. "What went wrong" isn't the right question.

He’s just a bad college QB. Did we do all this psychoanalysis when we realized Milton Jennings sucked?

No. We were right. Cade was the guy all along and the idiots on here that mimicked the coaches were idiots too

DJ is a great kid but it’s pretty obvious he does’nt have “it”. Too slow, not good at reading the defense, locks on to receivers, rarely throws a spiral etc. I do blame coaching for letting him go this long but Cade needed some time. Fun to watch him tonight!
