College football is now a professional sport

I'm not sure people really understand this, but we need to come to grips with the new reality. We are now part of a pay for play program whether we like it or not. This isn't going to go away. It is only going to get bigger. Supply and demand for players is going to increase, as will the cost to field a team. It really bites that this is where we are, but at some point we have to accept this reality if we expect to remain competitive.

The better programs are going to move forward and they are going to compete in the environment that we find ourselves. And BTW, HS players are going to have new demands that meet the new reality, so simply trying to appeal to them with past traditions and sales pitches isn't going to drive the results you want like they used to.

No one hates this more than me. I am old school and I am a conservative traditionalist. But, I am also a realist and the reality is, competing in the professional world of college football requires change and a new approach in order to find long term success. Those who embrace it will succeed; those who ignore it will get left behind.

Must be tough to deal with this issue with no rules and no real control of the money since the Schools can not pay salary. Boy, am I glad that I do not have to manage in that type of environment.

No one has to like it, but it's the reality.

Jump on the train or get left at the station.

The Student Athlete is to be no more. No need to waste money on scholarships or expect players to attend any classes. They will simply be employees of the school. The fun, the joy, the heartbreak, the leave it all on the field is leaving College football. It’s all about the have’s and the have not’s, the money and the greed. At least we will the memories of better days gone by.

The reality is, college is college, athletes are students and teams do not have owners like professional teams do. I know it may be over some people's head but facts are facts.

Since there are no longer any rules and it is all just for money, then, why not allow ex NFL players the chance to play for college teams? Miami has a 9th year TE, so, what is the difference? Why not, at least they might know our name is not The University of Clemson!

I get what you are saying, don't get me wrong. One thing though, as a long-time fan of the sport, I don't have to accept it and embrace it. I wish more fans would not.

I hear and understand you. But, I am afraid the longer we keep ignoring it the further behind we will fall. Not embracing change, and continuing to do things the same way, is an option; I'm just not sure it is a wise choice.

I understand. Just wish more fans in general across the country would send the message, Clean this Up. Instead, they just roll over.
