Take a look at the second picture. The rack was cut off. I thought the same thing to until I clicked on the second picture.

Guessing thats my old eyes and Spud saw evidence. Even if someone shot it, doesn’t mean they were able to track it to the lake either. Like someone else said, report it and let DNR sort it out if it looks suspicious.

That’s messed up. I live in Charlottesville and passed 3 guys with a sawzall taking the head off of a roadkill buck. That’s a whole different level of redneck.

I Have Discovered Deer

Carcasses on my land that only have the back straps missing. So, I started patrolling my land seeking out deer stands. If you've ever been trespassing on some land in Cherokee County and your deer stand is missing, thank you. I used to bag at least $3000.00 a year by removing and reselling deer stands that people would put on my land. I almost couldn't wait for deer season to get close because people would come and stage their deer stands on my land every year and I would come and remove them every year. It was almost like getting a tax return, but better.

small farm, 50 to 100 acres or so, and knock on the front door and ask them if I could run my dogs over the property. Most said yes, and I would over to share my birds with them if I got any....Those were the days....But, lack of civility has ruined that for everyone....

That is terrible. Same here Spud. I’m a outdoorsman and love to fish and hunt. A while back I took a few bags of trash to the dumpster and someone dumped out a cooler full of fish on the ground. Actions like this make me sick.

Yep. That’s pretty sick. People like that give hunters a bad name but they do exist. When I lived in PA they had a law that if you hit a deer with a vehicle, you could call the game warden and they would let you keep the meat. But the game warden had to come out and cut the rack off and they would cut it into pieces, I guess so people wouldn’t be inclined to try to kill them with their vehicle for the rack?? I also had a small 8 point on my property that there was something wrong with. He would just stand there and let you walk almost right up to him. Never ran, just slowly walked away. One of his eyes was hazy and I’m pretty sure he was blind. He was there for over 24 hours and when the game warden finally showed up he put him down. He told me I could have the meat if I wanted it but he had to cut the antlers off. He cut the antlers off about halfway down, basically just mutilating them. I told him I wouldn’t touch the meat from that deer because I didn’t know what was wrong with him. I thought he would take the carcass in for testing but he just drug it over to the woods and told me I could hunt coyotes over it if I wanted. Bottom line here is he was required to cut up the antlers on any deer he put down.

Yep. Found a headless deer in my pond two years ago. Why go to the trouble to throw it in the water?
Had been there awhile. I did my share of heaving trying to get it out.
