NOT a tropical storm or hurricane. I am pretty sure of that. It was moisture streaming in from the Atlantic. If I am wrong someone please correct me. Thanks

It was the remnants of the hurricane that came inland. The same thing that will be Saturday, no hurricane or tropical storm, lots of rain.

No, the hurricane never came inland. It stayed out at sea. It was another system that came into the state from the north that drew moisture from the hurricane into the state producing the all day rain.

It was a different storm system and not the hurricane. I think the system picked up some moisture off the hurricane but the hurricane never came inland.

A stalled front combined with deep tropical moisture from Hurricane Joaquin well to the east. This led to historic rainfall with widespread flooding across the state.

You're right but it was not a hurricane that hit the US.

I do now remember it. Still the Billboard is incorrect.
Although Joaquin never directly affected the United States, another large storm system over the southeastern states drew tremendous moisture from the hurricane, resulting in catastrophic flooding in South Carolina.
