Just wondering your thoughts on the ending.

Class of ‘71. Went through “rat season” and glad I did.

It was OK. The acting was great, the cinematography was excellent, but the story wasn't terribly compelling. I just felt like they could do more with that cast and a novel premise.

Agreed, the storyline seemed telegraphed

Loved the acting, the cinematography, the story, the fascinating look at the process…the ending seemed tacked on and a forced “twist” that wasn’t altogether necessary. I tend to be easily annoyed by shoe-horning culture war issues into places regardless if they are left or right. Would have preferred they ended the film 5 minutes earlier than they did. Still, glad I saw it and enjoyed it, overall.

I watched it on a plane but agree with the overall sentiment.

Really built to no where - at least in a movie sense.

“All Quiet on the Western Front” by the same director was amazing. I would 10/10 recommend. One of (if not) the all time best war film ive ever seen.

Yes it was interesting to see the process. I actually can’t remember how it ended 😳

Liked the movie. Didn’t love the ending. I’m Catholic and was waiting for the “Hollywood bashing” of Catholicism the entire time. I felt the ending accomplished that. Ralph Fienne or however you spell it was very good as always.

Typical Hollywood bashing. I hate it cuz I love Tucci and Lithgow both as actors and it looked terrific. But they will always try to drag us towards modernism somehow

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

Yep. Same. Hollywood trying their hardest to shove

Transgenderism down our throats. Typical leftist behavior and ideals.

that was Hollywood way of justifying transgenderism.

I was liking the movie until the end ruined it. The old school priest who wanted to fight back against Islam was right and should have been made Pope.

But I'm not Catholic so whatever.

The character didn't even know about his "condition" until his late 30s. It was just a medical situation that actually does exist, albeit extremely rare.

Much different than someone with gender dysmorphia who usually is confused from an early age and has a lot of struggles with it. They didn't even go into anything related to gender or any of that with this character.

Now you can argue the movie was trying to push an agenda with it with him saying "I am as God made me". The idea was things aren't as they seem. It called back to the Dean's sermon about "Grant us a pope who doubts."

I actually did think they were going to trans story route when they mentioned the "secret medical procedure in Switzerland" once again at the end. But it went a different way.

Totally was.***
