16th in the ACC against the run

I didn’t realize that it was THAT bad despite having watched every snap of every game this season. I feel good about our front seven starters with Capehart hopefully getting another year, but the depth is still a little suspect. Hopefully Tom Allen can help this unit play to its potential. Otherwise, I feel like this team has little vulnerabilities. Feeling good about ‘25!

we would have many stretches where we would play well for a while and then give up big chunks of yardage on a play. I suspect we had as more big runs against us than we have had in years.

All you needed to do was watch the Citadel game.

It was a major issue this year, if not THE issue. Tackling, gap-fitting, etc was horrible. People like to bag on Makuba, but he could hit and tackle. The defense really missed him. And don't get me started on Denhoff.
Either our LBs aren't as talented as we think they are, or they weren't developed. I think with Coach Allen on board, we are about to find out which one.

Why bring Mukuba up about the 2024 defense and who was bagging on him?
If the linebackers are good next year, they've had longer to develop. They were already getting better as the season went along.
If they don't show significantly more improvement, I guess you'll be here to bag on them. It's easy for you to make your proclamations after the fact.
Maybe you could try something positive, like when you talk about education, South America, etc. Lately your education has been JK style football trolling.

didn't a senior (Carter) and a junior (Woodaz) get the majority of the snaps LB?

By the end, Sammy was our best tackler.

And we are supposed to be developing players. Wes wasn't, so he was fired. Period.

You may see it as negative, but I am just commenting on what I saw this year.

The run defense was horrible. You can hate that I pointed it out, but you can't deny it.
And I disagree; I don't think our run defense was improving; SAMMY was improving. By the end, he was probably our most consistent tackler, a true freshman! What does it say about the other seven plus LB?
Now that Wes was fired, can you now at least admit that those concerned about the hire were on point?
I will continue to comment on how I see things, good and bad, through layman's eyes. I think this makes a better sports board than blindly applauding every hire, play, and decision in the program and deriding everyone who doesn't. As long as you can have an adult conversation without personal attacks (not saying your post was an attack).
Finally, yes, LOTS of posters questioned Mukuba's ability when he transferred. They talked about how he was a liability in coverage but failed to mention his tackling ability.

Denying the talent issue is just as bad as blindly applauding every hire, play, and decision in the program.

It got worse as the season went on which was an even bigger concern.

Depth is the problem if we have any injuries. The lack of depth really shows up in the blowout games when Dabo plays scrubs but it is a double edged sword because they need to get experience.

That was pretty evident in the South Carolina game.
It didn’t look like anybody wanted to tackle Sellers. One defender actually started to run away from Sellers

hard to tackle him with your best LB standing next to coaches on the sideline, the same place he spent the whole 4th quarter actually. yet some still defend Goodwin. lol

I'm like you. I knew it was bad but 16th in the ACC! That's truly atrocious. That alone is reason for dismissal. There's talent on that front line!'
