Clemson Women's Lacrosse is on a 5-game win streak after their blowout win today at Virginia Tech (18-6), and has 2 games remaining in the regular season.
This next game at #9 Stanford (Thurs at 6pm, ESPN+) is huge for the program, as a win there pretty much guarantees a spot in the NCAA Tournament -- which would be the first time ever Clemson has reached the big dance (the last two years, Clemson was one win away).
The NCAA Tournament consists of 29 teams, and 15 of those spots are filled by conference champion automatic qualifiers. That leaves 14 at-large spots open. It's looking like the ACC will have a total of 6 or 7 teams in this year.
Right now, UNC leads the ACC and BC is right behind them after UNC's win over BC today. 3rd place is a tight race between Clemson, Stanford, Duke, and Syracuse, with Virginia trailing behind. It's likely Duke drops out of the 3-seed race as they still have to play an extremely good UNC team, and Clemson already has the head to head win over Syracuse. If Clemson beats Stanford and a 6-7 Pitt team at home, they'll likely have the 3-seed locked for the conference tournament in Charlotte. If Clemson only beats Pitt, we won't be any lower than a 6-seed.
The ACC Tournament takes the top 8 seeds, where 1&8, 2&7, 3&6, and 4&5 play each other.
Current ACC Standings: UNC 7-0 // 12-0 BC 6-1 // 13-1 Duke 5-2 // 11-3 Stanford 5-2 // 11-3 Clemson 5-2 // 11-4 Syracuse 4-2 // 8-5 Virginia 4-3 // 9-4 Virginia Tech 2-5 // 7-7 Notre Dame 1-6 // 6-7 Pitt 1-6 // 6-7 Louisville 1-6 // 6-8 California 0-6 // 5-7
