over all these years, BB would have developed better defenses in crunch time situations. We have no clue how to change defenses on alternate possessions, no clue how to play zone defense (never remind rebound while playing zone), and certainly don’t know how to press. Our press amounts to playing semi tight defense for one pass and then retreat. There is no attempt to really trap, confine the opponent in the backcourt, or intercept the second pass after inbounding. Every game looks the same. BBs in game coaching is horrendous, and especially disappointing after hiring Billy Donlon, who BB said would make a big difference in the program. Watch our games and then watch Kentucky /Tenn or Duke/NC, and see how coaches who know how to coach, affect momentum of a game, and really give their teams a chance to win, based on a strategy. It is so hard to watch Clemson basketball.

Last play of the game is equally baffling

Less than 10-12 seconds, not in favor of a Time Out. But the play with no TO is something that should have been installed in October and practiced every week. TO give the defense time for substitutes and setup. It will also consume a couple of seconds maybe more if inbound pass is away from basket.

So we got it right not calling a TO. But your best three point shooters have got to be strategically positioned. First and best option is for the guard with the ball to take it all the way to the basket for a score or foul. If forced to pass, a good look would come from a trailing teammate or a kick out to the side. Hunter kicked it back to the trailing player but it wasn’t Girard or Hall. It was Clark. Girard was buried on the right baseline at the three point line and Beadle also on the far right sideline _ essentially out of the play. Hall went from foul line box to underneath our basket for rebound _ but unlikely scoring position giving time. Hunter brought the ball up the left side and no other Clemson player was on that side. Maybe Hunter should have got to the middle and kicked out right but seems like a lot to ask with less than 10 seconds. His only passing option was to the trailing Clark.

I don’t get it _ our best and good shooters not in the play.
