game...on3 reporter Pete Nakos reporting that Ohio State WR Jeremiah Smith has been offered 4.5 million dollars to enter the transfer portal. There's a large part of your reason.

It’s for sure the reason I didn’t care about any of it after CU was beaten.

Not sure NIL has anything to do with lower ratings. Definitely tampering is a problem and if I was Smith, I would take the 4.5 mil. That’s a life changing amount of money.

While I dislike OSU so so so much. Jeremiah Smith is a stud. He is legit 1st round pick if he could enter the NFL Draft now. I'm sure OSU can match or give him more.

Ratings lower? I would venture to say 2 teams north of the Mason Dixon.

Reasons
1. Opening of TrumpWorld Part Deux 2. Week later than usual so people are further into the work/real life grind 3. Game was not expected to be close. And for the most part wasn’t. 4. MLK day off for some (not sure if help or hindrence to ratings) 5. ESPN continues to lose subscribers YoY
NIL, Transfer, etc had little to do with it.
Two non Southern teams had little to do with it (ratings were up 28% compared to that UGA TCU crap show)
Overall when entirely of bowl season taken as a whole, ESPN quite happy.

First off, I dont agree NIL and TP had little to do with it, because there are a lot of fans that hate buying players including myself. I don't remember the last Super Bowl I watched, it was probably Tampa Brady and Falcon Ryan, whatever yr that was? I have never missed a college playoff game until this yr when I had it on but really didn't watch until halftime then I turned it to Gold Rush and never looked back.
Im a republican and didn't watch Trump either, didnt care because he does what he says, good, bad, different. So I caught up on old series because College ball is a sham nowadays. I missed several Clemson games this yr and even though I recorded I didn't care to watch.
Bottomline: it's not the same for most Alum and it's just fine for fans because they just want to win without regard to school.

A wise old fart! So sad to see the negative changes in college football that reduce/eliminate tradition.

Please explain? Just curious your take? College alum like traditional football, fans want to just win so they can brag to friends.
Explain what I am misding?

I imagine being an alumni makes you appreciate the culture and the school pride more so maybe I understand. I don't think kids who go to college now dislike their college football because players are getting paid tho. It's probably just a generational thing. People get stuck is how things were done in their age and don't like change. Just like most people like music from when they were younger and think it's better then today's music. I'm 32 and starting to get that way with music lol. My point tho is you acting like being an alumni makes you care more about your college program then what u call just fans do. I've loved Clemson sports before I could walk.

So if you're hoping CFB implodes, and I know you are, we're still a long way away from that.

There's too much infrastructure behind college football, campuses big and small everywhere, for it to implode. It'll get sorted out soon enough. We got our own thing going pretty strong and staying calm.

Well, my reasons don't take a whole lot of analysis. I don't care for either team, so I didn't watch.

Comes down to markets tapped into as well. Those teams were from 200 miles apart approx. I am not sure how much the average Joe really cares about the players getting paid

Has it ever helped that it’s late on a Monday night?
Never understood that one.
Maybe people are getting the ##### of it?
It’s why I finally didn’t watch.
