8 teams would have been perfect, 12 is too many. We’ll see plenty of blowouts.

I think the top 4 get byes while bottom 8 will play into the second round against the top 4

I don't think so. Maybe #5 vs the G5 team

will be on a fairly consistent basis, but I don't think 6v11, 7v10, or 8v9 will routinely produce a bunch of blowouts.

I think there's a better chance of getting blowouts in the 1v8 and 2v7 2nd round games.

I think you're right. We'll get some competitve games and UGA beating Penn State 63-0. This year would be different, but those Clemson/Bama/LSU 2015-2019 teams would be winning games by 45 pts

The issue is, it increases the risk of injuries to key players. Like imagine a key QB got injured in the quarters
