Heard his interview this morning on MTP and he reminds me of the kid in middle school who ran for student body president on the platform that he'll get rid of all homework. He's quite articulate, knows exactly what will resonate with voters, and quite full of sheet. His platform is pandering plain and simple. The biggest concern for me is that it appears to illustrate that the dems learned absolutely nothing in the 2024 election. They seem to be running even further to the left which alienates moderate voters and opened the door for MAGA to scoop them up in the first place. We're in a real mess with these two broken parties.

MAGA has made a living off of amplifying the most extreme of the democrats and staining the whole party with their more polarizing beliefs. They have been pretty successful in making their base believe that every dem is just like AOC and the squad.
Let there be no confusion some MAGA strategist is already analyzing every word this man has ever said and preparing an oppo social media barrage in hopes that he wins the general election.

Well the two largest cities in the US, LA and NYC are on the verge of being run by socialists/communists. Not sure how much longer normal Dems can pretend that those kinds of people are somehow the "estremists" in the party.

Polling data among democrats which show AOC near the top of the field for 2028 isn’t the fault of MAGA. It shows that yes, there are many dems who think like AOC.

She is definitely doing a lot better among Dems than I thought she would in polls, but I think she will get scorched when the actual primaries unfold. She won't be on the ticket.

She wouldn’t even be close if there weren’t many dems with the same thought process as AOC imo.
This is where I wish tnet had a good search function. I can remember the debates when she first come on the scene.

When in the past ~3 years have the Democrats used their powerful platform to discuss America’s problems other than to blame them all on MAGA?
The Dems never speak to the plethora of problems to work8ng-class Americans as a result of Democrat-led tidal wave of illegal immigration. They just blame American’s who didn’t like unfettered illegal immigration on rasssism, which = MAGA, which = Trump.
Dems never took a proactive stance on managing the ‘Free Palestine’ / anti-Jew social upheaval. They just found an excuse to blame Trump / MAGA for something.
Dems never seriously addressed the bad jobs situation. They fudged the data to goose the employment numbers via hiring hundreds of thousands of un-needed government employees -&- counting jobs given to illegal aliens. By doing this, the Dems, in effect, told underemployed / unemployed non-politically-connected Americans to not believe their eyes. Istead, blame Trump / MAGA for ‘lying.’
I could go in and on.
Meanwhile, the ignored Dem constituents, who have been encouraged by Democrats to expect the govt to take care of their needs, hear from NYC’s terrorist mayoral candidate; he tells NYers that he will give them what they deserve from the govt.
(*). Meanwhile, guys like you are blaming the rise of the NY City mayoral candidate on … wait for it … MAGA.

The only person Biden was ever gonna beat was Donny coming off of one of the worst presidencies imaginable. It aint about donny vs a dem it's about donny vs a real republican

Apparently, slants towards Socialism, defund the police, not seemingly really trying to stop illegal immigration, trying to justify men in women's sports will get you beaten by a clown show in this country. And, rightfully so.
I'm just not so sure this midterm is going to work out as well as some Dems think if they decide to double down on the above and convince themselves it is just a messaging issue.

True liberalism is really not Left or Right leaning. But, it is a word that has basically come to mean Leftist in this country.
Communism would be very Left, but has nothing to do with real liberalism. In general, the less power the state has over individuals the more liberal that state is.

Why do they like him so well, then?
It would seem one of the following two reasons:
(1). They are so stupid that they don’t realize that ‘no taxes on tips’ won’t help them?
-or-
(2). They know that ‘no taxes in tips’ will help them?

Real Republicans don't support Putin and Russia. Real Repubs supposedly want less deficits. Real Repubs look at issues and aren't in a cult where everything Trump says goes without ever questioning. They see room for debate. Real Repubs didn't support Jan 6th and still don't. MAGA is a cult and it is different.

Aa part of the MTP interview he said we should not have billionaires. As someone running a city with probably more billionaires than any other city in the US one would think outright stating such a thing would seem pretty kooky. I'd certainly be looking to live elsewhere if the guy running my city said I shouldn't exist and I'd take my company with me, if I were in that not so exclusive any more club.

All it says is something similar was tried in another country and there was corruption.
It does nothing to lay out economically why it is a bad idea.

You can disagree all you want, but there isn't even the remotest of chances you will be accurate. Its the equivalent of me saying I will be the starting QB for Clemson this year, win the Heisman, and lead us to the National Title, and then you saying there is no chance that will happen, and then I say agree to disagree.

You're the one who thinks private commerce will be dead in New York City if this dude is elected mayor for a term. Is that what you were trying to say? What were you trying to say again? Maybe I misunderstood you. What's the scoop?

Grocers run on some of the slimmest margins in retail. Fact. Now factor in government run grocery stores that care not for any profit. They will deliberately drive prices down to where private sector Grocers cannot compete. Ultimately driving them out of business in the city. It would happen if he implemented his socialist ideas. May not be overnight but people don't gointo or run a business for no profit. It is a basic principle of a free market enterprise. But you know that and that is the basis for why it would kill the competition. Will it happen? Only if this wacko gets his way. That remains to be seen but that is his intention.

Okay privately owned stores. There will still be privately owned stores and plenty of them. Which ones that will be impacted will remain to be seen. That's if he even gets his idea off of the ground. There are thousands of stores. His few that concentrate on lower income people might have impact on some, especially close, but it will be a mosquito bite on a RINO. It will probably be like the CO-OP stores here in Los Angeles.

Dear JJTiger89,
Had you ever worked in a grocery store? Maybe you never did much shopping in one.
To Viking’s point, self-annointed ‘intellectuals’ who’ve never thought more about a grocery store than the average socialist utopian have no clue about the complexities of actually running a grocery store and actually breaking even, much less making an after-tax return on capital employed.
Mamdani’s socialist utopian govt-run / govt-subsidized grocery store mirage will only appear to work at the time of the ‘grand opening’ of each individual store.
Before I waste the time going 8n to details, please share your earnest understanding of the five biggest challenges to operating a grocery store and not losing a bunch of money while doing so. I’ll assume, if you don’t attempt to provide answers, that you are too clueless to even dare to try.

Well if they operate on razor thin margins, even when having a lean, flat management structure because they simply cant afford a lot of fat to even eke out that 1% profit how would the govt and all it's myriad of layers, inefficiency and redundancies make things any cheaper? Now if you're suggesting the govt operate at a huge loss in order to corner the grocery business then I suppose thats one option but you could use that argument to justify the govt takeover of literally every private industry in the country. Just sell what others were doing more efficiently at a higher cost for everyone involved and let taxpayers pick up the difference. Seems like youre using a hand grenade to kill an ant but to each their own.

I'm pretty disconnected with updates on this topic. As IRDGAF what happens to NYC.
however, thematically, we're seeing this quite a bit...(i.e. Ossoff)
all these folks out here screaming about death to capitalism and blaming the problems on the rich guys while attending these hoity toity schools is a little comical to me.

Yeah I see the irony, but they generally aren't against capitalism. They want the rich to pay for more for regular folk in this country to get more. That would come from themselves as well. I am not agreeing with them, but they want a mixed bag.

He is as oppressed as Yorktown MA raised AOC who cries 'bronx girl.' It is a classic play of 'eat the rich!' All the while they are out to destroy America and the great middle class. He syas he thinks there should be no billionaires and yet he comes from an upper class background. Playing you like the fools you are. I've paid more in taxes than the median income of a US worker, each year.
anyone who supports that can go #### themselves as far as I'm concerned.
we can't tax our way out of this situation in the same vein we can't grow our way out of this situation. anyone who thinks either of those avenues are legitimate needs to distance themselves from having conversations around fiscal policy and economics in general.
my favorite meme, on point:

A person who has experienced what this country offers the rich is the perfect person that should be campaigning that those same opportunities should be provided to the poor.
That's what you call a selfless leader. Someone who is willing to sacrifice their quality of life to improve others.
