(No pics..she's in her early 60's)
It was weird, and took me twice reading it to figure out what she wanted. It had a Daniel Island return address on it that she circled, and put her address (the Airbnb across the street that she is apparently living in) below it, so I wasn't sure where the letter came from.
It was long and rambling, Aero style, but what I eventually got from it was that she wanted me to pick up her packages at her house and hold them in my this this week, but I have never spoken to her at all. I was outside in my yard all weekend working on my boat trailer. She came and went to her house several times, so I know she saw me out there. She never said a word to me.
So essentially she has dropped her packaging receiving problem off on MY doorstep, washed her hands of it, and just assumed that I would take care of this for her. She never really even asked, and never verified that I would do anything.
The narcissism and perceived entitlement in America is pretty f-ing amazing.

(and I'm pretty sure she is not), I'm not sure what a 60-ish year old woman and me would share as something we would both find "valuable".
For instance, a package I'd appreciate would be a Van Staal VS250 bail-less spinning reel. She'd probably spend that same $800 on jewelry from QVC.

I guess I don't follow how being someone's (that I don't know) on the spot package b!tch makes me a miserable person.

the odd behavior. Like, maybe she has crippling social anxiety and this is the only way she can approach you -- a relative stranger. Maybe do it, and see what type of thanks is given (no weird stuff). And, if your original hunches are correct, the next time she wants to do it, tell her the pirates got them.

She said something about one of them being chocolate and that it couldn't stay outside in the heat (?), so that one might be the first to get "lost".

to get their mail and keep an eye in the house - while they were driving to the airport to be gone for a month.
To top it off, they didn't let her know when they were back so when MiL saw a light on and a car in the driveway, MiL called the police.
After it was all over, they actually thanked MiL for being so conscientious.

If it were any of my other neighbors, they wouldn't even need to ask. But I've never so much as waved to this woman (nor her to me)--she's living in an airbnb. Why bother? I always figured she'd be gone by now.
But she had to do is ask me, you know, face to face, and not leave a cryptic note in my mailbox I check once a week. Thats just weird.

Drugs, mail-in fraud scheme, or something else nefarious?? Maybe this is where all those Amazon gift cards go when old people are conned into buying/shipping to some phone scam address...

Could be a scam. I'd walk over and ring her doorbell.

Show her the letter. Ask her if she wrote it. Then remind her she's never spoken to you before, but if she really wants, you can keep her packages for a week. Frame it as you're concerned it's a scam and want to make sure her stuff is safe.

I'm really not intending to be the AH here, but doesn't it seem weird that someone would just drop a note in my mailbox, and just expect me to jump right doing whatever they asked..without ever even talking to me about it?
I mean I know I lead a pretty boring life and rarely go outside of a 2 mile radius of my house, but I don't think SHE knows that. What if I actually had an interesting life and wasn't going to be here for the next 2 weeks? Isn't it presumptuous to even expect someone be available for her at her request without asking?

What have I ever done to make you treat me so disrespectfully? If you'd come to me in friendship, this scum who ruined your daughter would be suffering this very day. And if by some chance an honest man like yourself made enemies they would become my enemies. And then, they would fear you.
Some day, and that day may never come, I will call upon you to do a service for me. But until that day, consider this justice a gift on my daughter's wedding day.
