Cade Klubnik growing pains.

As fans I think we’ve been spoiled by the likes of Watson and Lawrence. They didn’t need time to grow they were great from the get go. However Cade is super talented but he’s growing he’s learning. Had Cade started all of last season he wouldn’t be having these growing pains. However with that said Cade will be great this year is his year to develop and grow. And I’m making a bold prediction right now. Cade will lead Clemson to the playoffs either his JR or Senior year. Cade will be great for us but he has got to grow and learn this year. Patience!

As we are going to a 12 team playoff, I certainly hope we're back in.

Your posts are actually becoming more thoughtful. I like this version of you better than angry Jessy. Good job!

I could be dead wrong, but I think the reason we are seeing

so many of these "growing pains" in actual games is, PRACTICES are not what they used to be. Coaches are so afraid of getting players hurt, that we had what, two scrimmages in all of fall camp?
If we got back to the old days of "good on good" and playing live in practice every day, the team would look a whole lot sharper now. Guys can tackle their own guys without trying to murder them.

I personally don't have any way to evaluate practices since I don't see them but I think that is a great point. Anecdotally speaking, we certainly have not looked well prepared in any of the games so far and I agree, that starts in practice.

76er.......you hit the nail on the head right there!!!! Practices are done at half speed, lots of standing around talking, no Oklahoma drills or full contact of any kind. It is no wonder it takes 3 games to get ready to play actual football.

Deshaun threw plenty of passes that had you scratching your head.
Matter of fact, he threw more interceptions each year he played. 2016 was especially puzzling/frustrating. He had something like 7 interceptions in the first 5 games and several other passes that had us Clemson fans wondering what he was looking at.
That said, I'd rather have something throw with confidence and conviction than be scared to death to pull the trigger.

Where does throwing the ball in the dirt on a screen pass fit in that spectrum?

Not sure either TL or DW were ready from the get go, not to lead us to championships on day 1 for certain. Lots of flashes, just like Cade though.
We eased them in as freshman early more than we did with Cade, and they had weapons too. I remember we won some games with Kelly Bryant that im not sure early in the season Lawrence would’ve won as a freshman.
Now playoff Lawrence was magnifico.

Deshaun 1st year starting stats Trevor 1st year starting stats Cade 1st year starting stats
I think it’s way too early to be making judgements about Cade. He has 3 starts.
