12 of the top 13 teams in the final CFP poll

are current or future SEC or B1G members, and it has been well established that FSU is a one man team with its one man injured. What is a 12 team playoff going to fix, and why do the big 2 need to expand further?

The only thing the 12 team playoff fixes is...

FSU would be in as the ACC champion. I think I saw where the 4 Power conference (ACC, Big12, Big10, SEC) champions automatic qualifiers plus two guaranteed for the group of 5 and the remaining 8 are at large bids. Basically you will have 4 SEC, 4 Big10, 1 ACC, 1 Big12, and 2 group of 5.

You are assuming the criteria will not change...

... in the next few years.
With the demise of the B1G it will change next year. It will be top 5 conference champs, not top 6.
Three years from now, it may very well be top 3 conference champions.
Or, based on what the committee did this year, it may very well be "choose the best 12 teams."

So back to the expansion question

Will it be easier to qualify as a top 4 B1G/ SEC finisher, or as an ACC Big 12 winner? And if we stay where we are, won’t we be one of the top “have not” programs? I know getting a “promotion” would mean more money, but at what cost (pun intended). A more difficult path to the playoffs? We could just sit back and take all of the big boys’ transfers, then beat them with their own guys. That statement was mostly a joke.
And again, what motivation do the Big 2 have to further expand? Further dilute the money and the talent pool, and make everyone’s path to the playoffs more difficult? What am I missing?

When I have time I'll elaborate further.
FSU, Clemson, and all those schools who don't want to get left behind when the SEC and B1G break away from the NCAA have to be very careful.
The committee gave clear and convincing evidence that the SEC doesn't need to expand any further. Neither does the B1G.
FSU and the others cannot bash the SEC or B1G. Those conferences don't need Clemson or FSU. But, FSU and Clemson sure need them.

The ACC will probably get 1 or 2 teams in going forward and that's about where it should be if you go off the history of this conference.
North Carolina, Miami and Louisville had their chance this year while Clemson was down and they all wet the bed.
I don't feel sorry for them.

Always though they'd eliminate the rule

where the conference winners got 1st round byes after expanding the playoffs to 12 teams.
I was wrong. They are going to eliminate the conferences instead.
