Those were the lofty "expectations" for Clemson Football that I remember when I became a Clemson fan in the late 60's! Buddy, if those were the only accomplishments in todays day and time, a program and it's Coach would be put on notice very quickly! Just seems as though it's CFP, National Title or BUST today!!! I, for one, am glad Clemson has one of the premier Head Coaches in College Football!! Thanks, Coach Swinney, for where you've taken Clemson and for whatever is to come!!

I remember those days. I remember a commemorative Coke (or maybe Pepsi?) bottle for a 7-4 season that didn't even get us to a bowl.

Undefeated home season in 74 and a win over SC. I would settle for the win over SC.

I'm buying it too. Gator Bowl and being ranked... hoping someone in the bottom top 25 would lose. Even when we got votes... man, we had arrived. Didn't get no better than that. Couldn't wait to visit the newsstand and get the different papers. Same with the magazine. Good stuff.

Then came Dabo and now we have sports year round to look forward to. Thank you Dabo.

I only became a fan in 2008 (when I was just 8 years old). So the worst slump I’ve seen Clemson in was the mediocre seasons between 2008-2010. Then came the good to great seasons of Clemson football from 2011-present. I can’t imagine having that low of expectations you older fans had to endur in the past. We should count our blessings that we are still in contention every year of winning the ACC and having a chance to go to the playoffs and compete.

Why cut it off at 2 out of 3? Stinking chickens are also 2 out of the last 10 vs Clemson (Dabo)!!!

...as a Chemical Engineer. I remember tailgating with his entire family before a home game in 1992, or 1993.

I'll never forget when his Dad leaned over to me and explained that beating South Carolina "is like beating Duke in Football" "It's no big deal so don't ever brag about it". "It's what we do". That conversation set the tone....and I've never forgotten it. :)
