Did cal get ripped off Saturday night?

Looked like a pretty good argument for targeting on Miami at the end of the game.

Absolutely got ripped off. That targeting, that didn't get called, will be in future training textbooks showing what NOT to do.

Yes, but they also massively choked. Shouldnt have been in that situation.

You cant blow a 25 point lead with 20 minutes to play. Just cant happen.

True, Cal defense is to blame for even being in that position. But if the correct call was made and Miami was flagged Cal wins and the story is Miami ALMOST came back.

The refs were the deciding factor, Cal defense allowed them to be the deciding factor

Miami still had three timeouts had the proper call been made and Cal awarded a first down. The way that game was going and as ridiculous as Cam Ward was playing at the end, I certainly would not say the game was over there.

I found it interesting that the Miami team dominated Cal in the 4th Quarter. The effects of the travel/jet lag would have indicated just the opposite.

100% this. They gave the ACC officials an opportunity to screw them over.

Refs definitely sucked but if you watched the whole game there were blown calls on both sides.

Refs weren't the reason that Cal's defense completely caved in the second half.

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

On that one call, yes.

But if they don't go into that particular play having blown a 25-point lead, no one's talking about it the next day.

I don't think we're gonna need the security cameras for this next part.

Listen, the ACC refs have signalled who their protected team is. Miami

They will do what they can to make sure they are in the ACC championship game. Probably want SMU there too. Clemson and FSU are persona non-grata and will get no calls like this going their way. Just fax. So Cal got caught in that vortex of corruption thus no call on targeting and other, clearly bad calls.

Easy and correct answer : YES

2 weeks in a row Miami has been protected, for whatever reason, by terrible replay decisions that simply should not be ignored by ACC or NCAA.

Cal did blow a huge lead and paid the ultimate price, but with the correct call of targeting, Miami loses the game and Cal gets a big win which they earned. Refs are 100% to blame for the loss

the refs were surely "helping" Miami... aside from that Cal played not to lose and lost...

There was one play I did not understand, when the Cal QB got blown up and they stopped for the injury why didn't they restart the clock after the situation was rectified? As far as I know neither team called timeout, there was an injury timeout... thought the clock started wehn they set the ball... that cost Cal time off the clock they were trying to get...

I seem to be one of the few who say no penalty. Led with and made initial contact with shoulder pads. You can hardly make a tackle without the helmet making contact. Also, didn’t like that the qb was obviously trying to get the call by rolling back and forth as if he had been shot. Anyone in the pain he was displaying would not have been okay to jump right back into the action. He got all better real fast. I’m not buying the refs cheated to help Miami. They looked at it in detail,in slow motion.

Pretty much the same type of play on Fields for the Steelers last night and lo and behold it was a targeting call.

It is subjective. No two plays are the same.

Targeting all the way, the intent was there, the kid's head snapped back when his helmet collided with the ball carrier. How the officials let that one go is beyond me, especially with all of the sideline chest thumping.
